Am I expected to bring anything to each actual interview? I was thinking of getting a small portfolio for paper/pens/phone (I don't own a watch). I'm also worried about ripping my pantyhose and would like an extra pair with me, but not sure what to do about that. I guess my question is, would I ever be asked to bring a copy of my application/CV?

Good questions. I was going to bring a few copies of my CV and applications along with a small portfolio binder. You never know if somebody might ask for one.

When it comes to dress attire for socials, is everybody wearing the same clothes they have for interviews (suits) or are people going a little more business casual (slacks, button down, jacket)?

::Bump::

I am bringing this thread back from depths.

How did the casual attire work regarding socials?

Knowing what I know now, I would strategically choose whether to bring a binder or not based on the program I was interviewing with.

The more intense the program, the more likely that bringing a binder and being considered "a little anal" and overly organized might actually be considered a good thing.

For programs that are very laid back, it could potentially hurt you as it would give the interviewers something negative to poke fun at or focus on after your interview.

Interviews are a game of poker; your atittude, answer to questions, and demeanor should based on your "read" of the program and you should try to mirror the residents who are already there. E.g. some programs would LOVE if you were able to quote landmark journal articles by author name, journal and date. If you did that for other programs during your interview, they would cross you off their list before they excused you.

Thanks. The advise is much appreciated.
