Hi all! I'm looking for insight into what Anesthesia Critical Care programs will take EM with the new board certification pathway. I know there are a handful of programs who have always been EM-friendly, but now that there is a certification option, I wondering how those applying this year have found the process and availability. There doesn't seem to be a great resource for programs that are EM friendly or with an EM pathway. Any help would be greatly appreciated! And good luck to those interviewing right now!

Following 2 links may help.

Anesthesia match is real early. Have to apply in the middle of your PGY2 year to match in spring of PGY-2. First has a link to the approved programs in anesthesia for EM-CC in anesthesia. Seems fairly easy to get a spot (CCM pays less than OR anesthesia, so gas residents don't jump at CCM). Requires 4mo critical care rotations in residency (shouldn't be a problem). Not a lot of time in the 2y schedule for research if that's your bag.

A lot of the PDs are fairly friendly. I've talked with a few and they've been really helpful. Probably worth emailing the PD of any program you're interested.

PM with any specific questions.

Piggybacking on this: do people who do Anesthesia critical care tend to end up working in the MICU, SICU, or can they do both? I've seen conflicting information on this and was wondering if anyone knows one way or the other.
