Hey everyone I could use some advice on how my EC's are going (I will be applying next year), such as whether I am missing anything or pretty much anything!

cGPA: 3.99, sGPA: 3.98 (current)

250 Hours Clinical Volunteering (split between two hospitals)
100 Hours Shadowing Physicians (Cardiothoracic surgeon, neurosurgeon, gastroenterologist, ENT)
200 Hours Volunteering as Inventory Chair at Hannah's Socks (a nonprofit organization that distributes socks and underwear to unhoused people in the city)
200 Hours Volunteering at Food for Thought (volunteered at the food pantry and making sack lunches for unhoused people in the city)
100 Hours Clinical Research Volunteering (Mostly helped clinical research coordinators with data collection/organization for submission to the IRB)

Student Senate (two years): served as recording secretary and Caucus Chair for the College of Arts & Sciences

Colleges Against Cancer (two years): served as cancer education chair for one year, committee member for the Relay for Life planning committee for one year, and was a team captain for our residence hall's team one year where we raised $600

Best Buddies (two years): I was paired with an individual with a developmental disability in the community. We would have monthly get togethers where we would go to fun events

Supplemental Instruction Leader (three semesters): I was an SI leader for General Biology 2 for three semesters (plan to continue till graduation)

Peer Mentor (one year): served as a live-in tutor at one of the residence halls. Held 10-15 office hours each week where I tutored freshmen students in calc, bio, chem, anatomy, etc. and worked very closely with the RAs

Desk Worker (one year): worked at the welcome desk of my residence hall for one year, about 15-20 hours each week

Research Experience: started in a biochemistry/molecular biology lab in May of this year and plan to continue until graduation. Will possibly be on several publications (not 1st author) and will give multiple presentations to the group. By the time I am done I will have about a year and half of research experience total.

I think thats it, thank you so much to anyone who reads and/or gives me advice!

It would be nice to see you add some shadowing of an office-based primary care doctor.

Thanks guys for the help! Catalystik, purely out of curiosity why is it important to shadow a primary care doc?

By the way mods can I please bump this?

Adcomms like to know that you have a view of medicine from the trenches before you begin to focus on a specific specialty. Office-based management and longitudinal care are the vast majority of what medicine entails. If you spend your time shadowing only surgeons or subspecialists, for example, you may never see any medically ill people. I've seen premeds change their minds about medicine after some experience with odors, vomit, blood, and pus, or abusive patients, or screamers and cryers. If you eventually go into a specialty, it's good for you to have an appreciation for the docs who refer your patients.

That makes alot of sense, thanks for the info!

Unless you are socially awkward (I'm guessing you are not with all those great EC's), or your PS sucks, you have an extremely good chance of getting in provided that you get an MCAT over or around 30+.
