Ok here is the case.
I have:

- 3.94 GPA science is about 3.96 or something close to that.

- about 80 hrs in volunteering at a retirement home,

- about 48 hrs in habitat for humanity (building houses and fund raisers)

- involved in premed society at my school (not a big deal though since im sure everyone is!)

- finally I did biochem. research program for about 3 months at Wayne State University School of Medicine and it was for the chairman of the department (I also got a letter of recommendation from him)

Is this all good enough or am I lacking in my volunteering areas. I wish I had clinical experience but I figured a retirement home is the same idea, and also because when I did want to volunteer at a hospital all they wanted us to do was wheel patients around so I rejected it.

I haven't taken my MCAT yet either but I'm scheduled for MAY22. My plans are to get accepted in an MD program in state.

How am I looking right now?...

THANKS A LOT!

Your GPA looks great, but your clinical experience and community service are both below the average most folks report on their applications (150 hours of each, though the clinical volunteering counts for both). Your research is the minimum amount. About a year is average, but having some is better than the 40% applying who have none. You should try to get in a leadership experience. Being in a club won't help you much unless you were an officer or helped raise money or did other philanthropic projects. You have not listed any physician shadowing, and you'll need to do this also (about 8-40 hours for each of 2-3 specialties is average).

Wheeling folks around the hospital is a good way to get in patient interaction and get a feel for the hospital environment. It also gives you a chance to meet docs so you can ask to shadow. You need an experience around sicker people to be sure you can tolerate germs, vomit, smells, etc.

Damn isn't it kind of late now since my MCAT is coming up and I'm going to apply 🙁
