Boards and Wards came out with their 4th edition and it has new material and they got rid of those vertical placed charts in which you have to turn the book on it's side to read. They redid those and added more ENT, Derm and Optho material. I really like it.
I like Crush but it's pretty light on information. Brochard's other book, USMLE Secrets is a much better and more informative book. I don't know why anyone would reach Crush when Secrets is written by the same author but has more information and is presented better. I hope the new Crush is vastly improved. The good news is Adam Brochard seems to put a lot of effort in adding new material and making changes to each edition.
I got Crush for free from a friend, and since I've heard on this board that Crush and Secrets contain the same material (just in a different format) I didn't bother with getting Secrets. Is there really much additional, useful material in Secrets that was left out of Crush 3rd ed.?
I read both Crush and Secrets for my CK preparation. I can confirm that they contain the same information but are just written in different formats. I read Crush first before moving on to Secrets, which I thought worked for me. I personally like Crush better because I prefer outline format to Q&A.
If you are running out of time, there's no need to read Secrets in its entirety. Just borrow the book from someone for a day and read the 100 Top Secrets section.
