Hi this maybe slightly pedantic (it may not), I was just wondering how you introduce yourself to the patients at the CS exam? I've been practicing PE's with friends in Philly and they say I'm Dr so and so, whereas at my school in Manchester I am told to say My name is ...and I'm an X year medical student for our OSCE stations.

Any thoughts?

It doesn't matter. The name you choose is not graded, infact you can make up a name. As long as you address the patient by Mr. or Mrs. _____, you're good.

yeah it doesn't matter but what do most say? do you lie and say i am Dr. awesome or do you say i am John Awesome a 4th year medical student, what brings you in Mr. Standerdized patient?

At the test center, they announce that they will call you "doctors" throughout the day. However, they also explained you could introduce yourself as a doctor or medical student. I said "Hi, I'm Ashers the medical student working with the doctor today." Basically, it's what I say with every patient I see.

It doesn't really matter but they say generally to use Doctor.

If it's all the same for scoring purposes, I would go with presenting myself as Dr. Lass. I tend to be always running out of time with patients on exams, so I would greatly prefer saying "Hi, I'm Dr. Lass, how can I help you today?" to what I'm required by my school to say: "Hi, I'm Bonnie Lass, and I'm a third year medical student working with Dr. Attending. Dr. Attending is with another patient, but do you mind if I go ahead and do your history and physical, and I will present that to him as soon as I am done?" There goes a whole minute from a 15 min encounter...
