So i'm taking my CS next week and I'm really trying to understand what I have to do for every single patient. Outside of the HPI what questions should I be asking everyone. So far I've got this:
1) Past medical history: Diagnosed with anything, hospitalized, allergies, surgeries, been to see anybody for this specific complaint before.
2) Family History: Mother, Father, Siblings. Ages and what problems they might have.
3) Social history: where you live, what you work, alcohol, tobacco and recreational drugs. (is sexual history a must for all patients?)
P/E:
1) General exam: Wash hands, drape
2) HEENT: lymph nodes, conjunctiva, pupillary reflex, oropharynx
After this is where it gets tricky, am I going to listen to lung/chest sounds for each patient? Or do I go directly to the specific physical exam?
Finally summarize HPI, explain differential, counsel problems, ask if they have any questions.
Is there anything else?
