hey. i read on the website that we don't have to do vitals over again...but im guessing that doesnt count orthostatic blood pressure? my question is what do they expect us to do for this since i have seen it done a million different ways. do you guys do both arms supine, sitting, and standing? or just two positions and only one arm? i have no idea what they want, and i dont want to waste time doing this on cs if i dont have to do it. im taking this thing tomorrow, so i dont know if ill get a response before then, but thanks in advance.

Hey Arthro,

I just do the basics of sitting on the edge of the guerney (or whatever it's called), one arm = BP I; immediately have them stand and repeat BP II. You could also ask a ROS set of questions to determine the presence of orthostatic problems including: "do you feel lightheaded when you stand up?" to see if you really need to do it.

I think just the gesture of doing the ortho exam would suffice.

Good luck tomorrow - 👍

I would not do it unless it was very clearly indicated. If I were to do it, I would fake it (cycle the cuff pretty quickly) to save time -- it's obviously going to be normal and you have to go by the vitals on the door anyway. I would only use two positions and one arm.
