During my tour at Colorado State I was shown pretty awesome software that is included during the anatomy courses and labs. Is this software available online somewhere, or for purchase? I am taking anatomy right now and feel that it would help out a ton. I know last year there was a thread talking about this but I cannot find it. Please help!

It is sent to anyone who enrolls in the Domestic Animal Anatomy course through CSU. I'm not sure how to obtain a copy without enrolling... I'd offer mine up, but I'm in vert morph now and hopefully have anatomy in my not-too-distant future, so... I still need it.

Someone at our orientation was talking about that, I think. If you haven't heard by Wednesday, I'll try to track her down in class and get an answer for you.

Hey, Im a student at CSU and we use the program in our first year classes. It's AMAZING and was completely developed here at CSU. You can try contacting Dr. Whalen about obtaining the CD, he's responsible for it and would be the person to ask. Otherwise you can try contacting VetText here on campus and ask them for the Anatomy DVD. Hope that helps.

It is also sold at the regular on campus bookstore -- under classes BMS 305 and BMS 531.

You beat me to it!

I took Domestic Animal Anatomy and ordered it from the bookstore. I believe anyone can order it, but I am not sure. Just found it also nder VS333 (Domestic Animal Anatomy) - it's 40-50 depending on whether you can get used or new. Might be a worthwhile purchase for some - it's quite interactive!

careful about the version you get -- Dr. Whalen JUST finished it, and the older versions were listed as 2.0 as well. As far as I know, the last version came out mid March of this year -- I got mine directly from him, he burned it for me off his computer before it was released commercially. Just an FYI

I found info about this program online last year, so I asked our vet library librarian about it, and she was able to order like 10 copies for our library available for check out. So, if you don't want to pay for it, ask your librarian and they may be able to do that for you guys.

Would I be correct in assuming this software is compatable with PCs?
(I assume it wouldn't matter because it's a DVD, right?)

It's made for Windows and uses Quicktime. I don't think it's set up to work with Mac. Never tried - suppose I could if someone is curious.

Thanks for the lightning fast response! 👍

I tend to do most of my worrying (and thus, extracurricular study aid/additional textbook ordering) in the wee hours of the morning

I was trying to write my PS. 🙁

I didn't finish, and I'm still not sure I like it either. Blah!

But, I'm back at it, 7 1/2 hours later.

Good Luck!! :luck:
And if it makes you feel any better, I spent months procrastinating and procrastinating, peppered with the occasionally frantic jotting down of ideas on post-it notes or sitting down in front of a blank word doc, followed by more and more procrastinating until one day (mid September) everything just sort of clicked into place and I sat down and wrote my PS in it's entirety in 3 hours.

It will come together!! You can do it! 😀

Thanks for the encouragement!

I have two starts to pick from, and no finish so far. The hardest thing is making the parts fit together - I know what I want to talk about but, how to lead one thought into another...

*palmface*

No matter what veterinary school you plan on attending do whatever you can to get a copy of Virtual Canine Anatomy from CSU!!!

I am a first year at CSU, I have a limited anatomy background but I believe this program was sent from god (AKA Dr. Whalen)! I don't know how I would learn anatomy without the program, it is absolutely amazing!

Hmm... been having trouble ordering this (not at CSU student), tried registering and what not - and it seems they allow online ordering, but can't seem to get it working.

Has anyone had any luck ordering this DVD as a non-CSU student?

Looks like something that can/will really help me.. if need be, I guess I will contact the author or bookstore via email, but thought I would see if you guys had any luck yet.

EDIT: Got it working - the registration seemed to have gotten mixed up (something to do with my cookies, surfing around the site, ect.

POMONA - thanks a million for the direct link - its pretty hard to find just going through the website, not sure why I had so much trouble - i'll update when I actually get it... Alright, time to study Parasitology... again

P.S - Still using IE, leave my spelling alone! 🙂

There is a different version for Mac and PC so make sure to get the version you need for your computer!

Ok...I emailed the doctor who made the program.

He messaged me right back, asking for my mailing address. The program is $40, and you must specify if you want it for Mac OSX (the best operating system in the world) or for Windows (if you like things that do not work).

Anyhow, he stressed that if any classmates want it too, to email him directly. Please don't make illegal copies, as it seems as though a lot of work went into making the software!
