Who ever would have guessed this would happen? /s

Wonder how many people have lost their lives to the hucksters pushing an unbalanced narrative chasing the money.

So, you are telling me that there are people are willing to take advantage of a group of young folks with minimal educations and millions of dollars to enrich themselves. The next thing you will tell me is that these young multimillionaires often end up broke.

Well, they go broke because of the CTE. Duh.

So are you guys saying that people take advantage of other people’s fears, problems, difficulties, vulnerabilities, ignorance to enrich themselves?
In the words of my somewhat naive and very caring and sensitive young social worker, “I just can’t believe that people would do that.” Her beautiful optimism and naivete helps keep my pragmatic cynicism from turning to bitterness and being just a grumpy old man. Since this dynamic occurs in so many aspects of our field, we have this conversation many times a week. Insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, private equity, under qualified midlevels, poorly designed and run systems of care. I always tell her that her job as a social worker is to fix all these things so she has plenty of work to do.

Having seen some of these folks, and having worked with patients with histories of concussions more generally for years--I am not surprised. Some of what these providers and other people tell players/patients is shameful.

Definitely seen patients clinically with depression and no longer making future plans because a provider mentioned CTE secondary to the 2 concussions they had lifetime. Sad that people jumped on to this bus without really having any understanding of the actual research behind it.

I may be chronologically younger than you, but my wife assures me that I am, in fact, a grumpy old man. From what I am told, she is also never wrong.

Everyone knows that you're essentially Clint Eastwood from Gran Turino. And, you forget to say that you are a grumpy old white man.
