Is Cuban an URM?

I checked "Cuban" and "White" and was invited to UTSW's URM events on second look weekend. I have NO idea why.

So only Hispanics of Puerto Rican or Mexican descent are considered URMs?

Only mainland Puerto Ricans (New York-icans don't count) and those of Mexican descent are the hispanic groups considered to be URM by AAMC/AMCAS.

Individual schools may interprete as they please in terms of invitations to Second Look, etc.

Cubans are not under-represented in medicine in the U.S. if that is what you are asking.

actuallly i sent the aamc an email about that and i got this response

Race/ethnicity is self description; that is you decide what you consider yourself. We do not differentiate between mainland and Commonwealth Puerto Ricans.

Hope this is helpful and good luck.
