This figure came up on CDP, and the explanation acts as if there is a block behind the 4-block tower, i.e. there are 14 blocks. I thought if you can't see a block and it isn't necessary for support, you must assume there is no block there, thus there should be 13 blocks. Am I right or is CDP right?

i think, and don't quote me on this, you assume that the blocks arn't seperated from one another.

you always assume that the figure is connected by either blocks touching side to side or corner to corner to maintain '1' unit figure.

rather than, count the blocks, of two separate figures.

Saw this question asked before. I thought the blocks have to be connected and you cannot connect corner to corner?

With that said I counted 15 blocks.

Yes, that's true. They will never give you two separate structures. I count 15 blocks as well.
