Cuccurullo - Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Board Review

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I think it will be a while; the current edition while it has its faults is pretty comprehensive and does the job better than almost anything else out there.

Until the board changes questions up more I think you're stuck with the current edition, which isn't all that bad if you ask me.

thanks. it's just that someone that rotated with her last year said she mentioned to him that a new edition would be out "soon"...but how soon. obviously she's at least working on a new edition to make a statement like that. anyone from JFK know???

Sorry to bump an older thread, but the question is relevant as it's getting closer to board review time. Does anyone know if an updated edition of cucurullo is coming out this year?

Thanks,

I spoke with a publisher rep at AAPMR in Boston; he said the last he has heard, it is being 'worked' on, but a draft was not near to submission, and once submitted, you are looking at the book coming 6-12 months after that.

Anyone knows if there is indeed a new edition of Cuccurullo coming out?

we called the actual publishing company and they said expect it out next fall (2009)...but from what i hear, they've been saying that for a couple years now. but of course they have an interest in you buying the current edition (b/c they know most will also buy the new one when it comes out).

i really wish someone in her program could get Dr. Cuccurullo to comment officially on this.

I don't think Dr. Cuccurullo herself will know when the book will come out since it's the publisher that keeps pushing back the date - I know it was pushed back A LOT and very frequently for the 1st edition - so I would expect the same for this one. Demos is not a big experienced publisher so they have more snags it seems...

The new edition will be available in mid-November. I have a 15% discount coupon for the new edition if you order directly from the publisher. Here it is: SSPMRBOARD15

You also get free shipping. It expires 12/31/2009 Their website is http://www.demosmedpub.com.

EXCELLENT!! But I already pre-ordered it from Amazon.com for a total price of $138.99.

Sounds like the discount listed above should make it around $127.50.

Thanks for sharing Pirulina.

For anyone who has the new edition:

Is it upgraded and much differenet than the older edition? If so, how?

Thanks. Have the old edition and unsure if I want to spend 130 on the new one.

bump!

So, I have heard mixed reviews for this book. (at least the previous edition) which I own as a hand me down.

wondering if I should get the new one. any thoughts?
thanks

I am admittedly a little nerdy when it comes to books. I actually sat down with both book editions and flipped through it page by page to see what the differences were (made it through 75%). The new edition is *much* better compared to the old one. Lots of old concepts were removed, updated with the latest treatments with more recent references. For example, MSK has a completely new axial injection section not previously seen.
