I have a question on how med schools calculate the cumulative GPA for a transfer student...

Do they only look at the final cumulative GPA from the last school, or do they calculate the cumulative GPA using both schools GPA. For example,

Credit Hours and GPA at institution 1 -
60 with a cumulative GPA of 3.8

Credit Hours and GPA at institution 2 -
60 with a cumulative GPA of 3.4

School's GPA is irrelevant.... they gather all credits you've ever done and calculate the overall GPA themselves.

yup. I was a transfer student (from one 4 yr college to another) and my AMCAS cGPA and sGPA took into account my grades from each school as a function of the credits I took.

given your example, your AMCAS cGPA would be 3.6 and this is what would be reported to schools.
