  1. Pre-Medical
I have already applied to MD/DO schools and have been complete since October. I would also like to apply DPM but I saw somewhere that you have a month to matriculate after you gain acceptance to podiatric school. I want to keep my options open and be able to interview into March for medical school. I have completely filled out the podiatry primary application. When should I submit it?

submit around february. you should hear back within a few weeks about interviews

Here's how the timeline works. You submit your application. If your transcripts/grades have been verified and your MCAT has been received and verified then you will be rapidly contacted by the schools and asked to set up an interview. This can quite literally happen within 1 day of your complete application being received. You schedule your interview - they usually offer interviews a few weeks/a month or so out. Once you attend the interview you will be contacted within 1-day to 3-weeks, usually. Very qualified applicants may find out same day, but 1 week is fairly common. For less qualified candidates or for candidates late in the cycle, many weeks is far more likely. Once a school accepts you, you will have (usually) one month to submit your seat deposit. You can contact the schools and request more time, but this is at their discretion.

This might be an ignorant question, but does the verification of the MCAT scores and GPA happen before we click the "submit" button?

I got my MCAT score verification before hitting "submit." Basically, they verify it right after they get your official scores from AAMC.

However, they won't verify your GPA until after hitting "submit," even if they've already received your transcript.

Oh okay thanks!
Do you guys think that process will be quicker later in the cycle? ... Say March?

I submitted my app last Saturday night, and my MCAT/GPA were verified the following Tuesday. My app was mailed out to schools the next day. (AACPMAS electronically sends out applications on Wednesdays at noon.) And you know what... I got 2 interview invites the same day!!!!! Still waiting for several other schools to respond, hopefully they will once everyone returns from Thanksgiving holiday.

So I'm pretty sure it will be fast in March, assuming there aren't alot of people applying. Try to apply earlier if you can (MCAT holding you back?)... but I think you'll be fine in March.

Oh nice! Congrats on the two interview invites!! What schools?
What schools did you apply to?
What were your stats? (if you don't mind me asking, PM me if you are more comfortable with that).

And yes on the MCAT, I was supposed to take it on September but I chickened out so I am waiting until January. I will submit my app immediately after I get my MCAT scores though.

Thanks!! I got invites from Barry and Kent State. Applied to all 9, still waiting for the other 7 to respond. I'm def going interview at Barry, probably not Kent since it's not one of my top 3 choices.

Stats are 3.15 GPA / 2.94 sGPA / 26 MCAT

Yeah I totally freaked out before my Sept MCAT, but I did fine. I think you'll do fine if you're prepared. I got the same exact score as the average of all the AAMC practice tests I took. Most people score within +/- 2 points of their AAMC average anyway. Good luck!
