Hey there,
My sister is deciding between either UCLA and HSDM so we had a few questions regarding living there.
1) I know housing is guaranteed for the first year; is it also guaranteed for the remaining years? Betsy said it's not guaranteed, but it "shouldn't be a problem if you want to stay."
2) Does anyone really stay for the four years? We checked the apartment website and it looks like a hassle to commute/take public transport to school every day...is it?
3) Anyone currently staying in Vanderbilt Hall right now? How is it? Too crowded? Too noisy? How are the common bathroom and common kitchen areas? We like that it's so close to the school, but my sister is used to living in an apartment and not sharing the kitchen & bathroom with too many people.
4) Are there any places to buy groceries around there? When we visited, all we found was the Trader Joes, which was, needless to say, a short hike from the HSDM building, especially at night.
5) How are the on-campus cafeterias/cafes? We looked at the hours of operation and it doesn't look like they're open late at all! 8:00pm at the latest for one of the locations? Or did we look at the wrong page?
Thanks for everyone's help...I'm sure more questions will pop up soon.
