I have a BA in neuroscience and I work as a surgical assistant in neurosurgery. It's a great job, but I miss out on being able to follow my patients past the post-operative period. I can't wait to get into medical school so I can get to the "other side of the table."

Yeah, I would like to go into something surgical, probably neurosurgery, but I'm going to keep my mind and my options open in medical school.

I love anatomy and can't wait to take it. I've considered doing an anatomy fellowship after, we'll see. I know biochemistry (!!!) and other classes will be kicking my butt so it'll be nice to have at least something come a little easier in the first year.

I work in a consulting/accounting firm and hate my job, I can't wait to start medical school and begin my medical career. I have biology degree but do accounting instead.... Anybody else stuck in a boring non-medical related job.

I've been in accounting for 25+ years (~15 yrs in public accounting - blech!). I currently work for a medical management company. We manage radiologists, anesthesiologists, and ED docs. This is the first accounting job I've had in YEARS that I didn't hate. It's actually a great company to work for. I've got a great boss. And I'm getting a great education in the business side of medicine.

That being said, I can't WAIT till I get to med school! (I'm applying this year.)

I tested CAH and CF, but all I did was punch the blood spots and put them in their respective spots on the trays and loaded them into the machine and told the computer it was ready to go. I don't know what type of program it was, and I can't remember the name of the machine. They nicknamed it King Henry, so that is what we always referred to it as.

Gotcha. I can definitely see why you wouldn't be too fond of it. Hope you're in a better situation now!

I've heard this type of thing from several people now. That's very odd. I could walk down to the steak house I worked at between the ages of 16 and 22 right now and I'd be working tables by lunchtime if I needed a job. However, when I worked at Pizza Hut while I was going to school at the Colorado School of Mines, my boss would always put up the papers where I made the dean's list and circle my name and brag about me. This made a lot of my co-workers unhappy and I ended up leaving bc of that but my boss still loved me.

Yup, i got gelato for trevi fountain too. I lived in Italy (rome) for 6 months last year. Great country.

Well just to help desi out I already posted what my "job" is now but I did work at Six Flags a few years ago. I was on average 10 years older than the high school kids working in carts and 2 years older than my supervisor. That was fun times, not! 🙄

I worked at starbucks as a barista and it has forever turned me off to coffee 🙁 Well, sometimes I'll have a cup or two, but seeing all those cracked out coffee fiends every morning for 2 years kinds freaked me out!

I also worked at a cryopreservation and tissue processing company and got to dissect human cardiac, vascular and orthopedic tissue for implant. We would get whole hearts, various veins and arteries and whole legs! Fun, fun!

My old job was at a local YMCA. It was nonfacility forever, which means we did not operate in one building, but several throughout the area. I ran the gymnastics program...starting teaching at 15 y/o, took over the program at 17 y/o and quit last August (at 25 y/o). I taught the competitive gymnastics team, so lots of flipping and twisting kids all over the place. In the summer of 2006, we opened up our building and I got to design the gymnastics area! That was a lot of fun too!

That's sooo sweet that you guys met there! My parents met when they were 20 working at Toys R us 😉 My Dad offered to help her reach a toy on a high shelf and the rest is history . . . 😍

Awww that's so sweet!! It's funny because I would always let my husband climb the ladder to get/organize the stuff high up. Well I don't know if it was let him so much as make him. We started there in June and in August I was leaving to go back to school in TN. We weren't even friends right away but we did talk to each other a lot more than other people. I would actually secretly fume at him because he smoked at the time and he would come in for his shift but ask if I could stay 5-10 more minutes so he could go out and smoke before I could go home. 😡 Then he didn't ask me on a date until a week before I was leaving to go back to school. My best friend mentioned something about him being my future husband and I said yeah right. Guess you never know right? 😉

That is cool Runner. I was always so impressed by the girls who could do gymnastics back in school. I always watch collegiate gymnastics when it comes on TV. It is so amazing.

That does not sound like much fun. Where did the body parts come from? I've never heard of this before. Did you enjoy this? What types of things was done with the tissue? Just wondering. 🙂

Yeah, gymnastics was actually my life. I started at age 2, was ready to begin competing at age 5, and quit when I was 17. If we would have stayed in a bigger city so that I could attend a bigger gym, I would have been olympic material, but we moved to a smaller town and my mom had to drive me an hour to get to a decent gym 3 nights a week. I almost considered competing vault and floor for Mizzou, but decided it was time to move on with life.....It was great experience though. Definitely gained a lot of confidence from it, not to mention muscle tone. But, I lost all of the muscles already (8 years later) 🙁 It was great passing on the talent to other kids though!

That is pretty sweet! Isn't it intersting how things work out? And now you have two adorable kids! I met my ex-husband at the restaurant I started working at when I was 16. We were the first to get married followed by 7 seven sets of our friends from the restaurant. It was kind of crazy.

Totally cool! 👍 I was in gymnastics but I sucked. I got to level 6 I think. I think the numbering is universal if I remember correctly. My mom pulled me out when I was 12 bc I hit my sister during practice and I never went back.

Ha! That is kind of funny how you had to quit, but kinda not fair. Level 6 is not bad...and yes, the levels are universal.
