  1. Pre-Optometry
Hi all,

I'm currently a junior and working on my bachelors and am really interested to hear about what current NOVA students, students who have already been accepted and students who are applying, have to say about NOVA. I'm just starting to take the pre-reqs required but what really stood out to me was how Microbiology, Biochemistry and Anatomy & Physiology is a requirement for NOVA!? I should be graduating 2015, but WITHOUT taking Biochem., Micro., and A&P.

Im assuming, everyone must fulfill all requirements that are listed on their website? (I know stupid question!) but, have any of you applied to NOVA as you were taking the other pre-reqs and gotten accepted? (Given, you are a graduate and have submitted your OAT scores)

What is an estimated stat of what NOVA accepts? What is YOUR GPA? OAT score? Extracurricular activities?

Extended program? Anyone currently in it? Please explain further.

NOVA-POP? Anyone currently in it? I can't seem to find anything about it online. Is it something you directly apply to, or are asked to do? What's the purpose of POP?

All other information and ANY information would be greatly appreciated! ALSO, any advice for an undergrad would also be greatly appreciated! 🙂

THANK YOU ALL!

I'm an OD2 at nova. You have to take all prerequisite classes to be accepted but it doesn't matter if they are post bac. You just have to have taken them. POP is not something you outright apply for, it's generally offered to students with lower OAT or latter applicants (or something the admin deems necessary) and it's a year where you take some OD1 classes and some undergrad classes. You have to get a B or better to be accepted into the OD program, it's a "prove yourself" program. An A in those classes don't have to be repeated the next year, the true od1 year. About 10-15 kids do pop every year.

Thank you very much for your input. I appreciate it! NOVA is my top choice!
