All,

I recently graduated from Graduate/Business School in December 2014 (I cannot believe it has been a year already). I have been in my role at my current company for a little over 7 months. Prior to that I did a small stint in-between graduation and finding a more desirable job for a small real estate firm for 3 months (needed a job right out of college and didn't have any other offers on the table).

As some of my previous posts have indicated I am working on my pre-requisites for medical school part-time. My current job only allows for 1-2 classes a semester. I plan on applying for medical school come Spring 2017.

My question for you all, will AdComms view the change in roles negatively if I were to pursue a career on the corporate side of medicine? That would be 3 different jobs within the last 12-15 months. I can see where a negative connotation could actualize, and I may be seen as having a mercurial mindset. Just a thought...

Any feedback?

Is your concern that ADCOMs will view you as being "flighty" for switching between roles? As long as you can rationalize the choice to change roles as opportunities that arose that aligned with your interests, you should be alright. The bigger concern is why you are switching to medicine after finishing business school. You will want to make sure that you can demonstrate (through volunteering and shadowing) that medicine is the only career path for you. Make sure your answer to this question is better than "I want to help people."

Changing jobs a lot is a sign of a few things. The most common of which is that you don't like the something intrinsic about the work. Which is why you're getting into medicine.
This is similar to what I was thinking. As long as you don't look like you're wavering about medicine, I don't think it will matter. Just consider that a LOR from a colleague could be useful so if you switch, that might not be possible.

Duly noted.

I have always wanted to work in medicine. During high school/my first few years of college I had been aiming for that route but due to multiple reasons I had changed to business. Well, knowing now what I do, I never should have changed. My desire to pursue medicine has only increased. I strongly believe medicine is my calling in life. Whatever happens up unto medical school is a way to provide means for my family. I am trying my hardest to complete pre-reqs (only 3 more semesters), volunteer, work, raise a child, and plan a wedding. It isn't easy but what lies ahead isn't going to be any easier. Appreciate all the advice, ladies and gents.

I disagree with the above advice. Three jobs in 12-15 months on a resume would be a red flag to any employer and this is doubly true for medical school where admissions committees are looking for evidence of commitment because it's a waste of a med school seat when a med student drops out because they realize that medicine wasn't a good fit for them in the first place. I was on my med school's admissions committee as a med student and we would definitely be looking for you to have a persuasive answer to the question "Why medicine" (beyond "I strongly believe it is my calling") as well as why you are switching away from business so quickly and why (if you decided to leave your current job) you have a pattern of switching jobs every few months.
