I just got accepted as a late applicant a couple of days ago and now i have to rush to get everything done in like a week or two. I have to special order my books too, but people have told me that all of the "required" books are not always necessary and asking around would be a good idea. Can anyone who has already taken the first year tell me what books are really required from this list? Thanks.

5180 Business Aspects of Optometry 2nd Classe 99

hey 🙂 congrats!!! umm for first quarter the only book that you really need is the psychophysical measurement book.... the human anatomy manual by lamotte is by the teacher so its super helpful because it goes over what he says pretty similarly and has good drawings.... dont buy med physiology or biochem. the business aspects book you can buy now or later but you wont need it till 3rd year and the rich dad poor dad is something you are supposed to read for a practice management class but its just a book you could check out from the library or borrow from a friend/upperclassman.. not necessary to own 🙂 let me know if you have any more questions 🙂

Wow, that was extremely helpful. I think i'll buy Physophysical Measurement of Visual Function and the anatomy book then. I can probably find a copy of rich dad, poor dad, my cousin may even have it. That saves me a lot of money and headache. Thanks.

If at some point, I see that i really do need a book i didn't order, would i just ask the bookstore to special order it for me? I was told all of the books are special order. How long does it take for them to get in?

no prob 🙂 honestly pm me if you need anything.... advice on school, where to live... what to do... 🙂... if you want a book later you can always special order it from the bookstore.. but at the start of each quarter they send out a booklist and you can order stuff then... like for example 2 weeks before class let out for the summer i got the list with all 3 years of books so i bought the business management one then.... 🙂

Good luck!! I couldn't imagine trying to through my life together in two weeks to start OD school.

You can order Rich Dad Poor Dad easily in Amazon for way cheaper as well. I recommend buying it and reading it now to get over it, because when school starts it will be hard to catch up on the reading. It's a pretty easy read, you can finish it in a few days or even faster.

I don't know if it's appropriate to post this, but I do have the Psychophysics book for sale, for $40. It's in pretty good condition, only has a few highlights.

Let me know!
