Trying to graduate with a major in psychology at a public university, just need 3 more terms of psych courses to graduate.

I have taken 75% of my major requirements but at this point, my gpa will tank an entire .1-.15 if I stay here and graduate.

Here is the issue: the psychology department faculty is extremely hard (and notorious for it). Not going to write a wall of text with the specifics, but there are hardly any students getting A's in these upper division courses and the grading rubric is unfair.

I am currently enrolled in a private university (never took any courses there, was admitted in high school) whose grading policy is lax so I was thinking I could take the rest of my major requirements there so my gpa is maintained or gets better at the obvious cost of an arm and a leg. Then I'll just transfer the credits to the public university and graduate.

Does this look weird to adcoms? How do I explain this? Am I better off taking the courses at the public uni and taking the GPA tank?

You're still enrolled in the private school even though you've never taken a single course there and and high school was most likely years ago? Seems odd to me. Anyways, I would check with your current institution if that's even a possibility. I say this because there's a good chance they won't let you just transfer in all the upper-level courses you need for your major.

What makes you think you are currently enrolled in this private school? Seems like you'd be classified as a former student or former special extension student since you took the classes in HS. So you may have to apply etc to enroll and take classes. JustAPhd is right. Most schools won't let you take your upper division classes at another school. I suppose you could just transfer to the private school and get your degree from there.
