Hey Guys,

I just resently started as an MS1 at LECOM. However I just got off the waitlist at PCOM and they start school next week and I need to let them know by Friday. Just wanted to know what any of your thoughts were on staying at LECOM vs picking up and going out to PCOM? i'm really kinda stuck on thes decision. Thanks in advance.

Which school did you want to go to first after interviews?

The major difference here is location and cost. PCOM is much more expensive, but comparable to the other medical colleges in Philadelphia. The cost of living is higher as well.

If you think in the long run you'll be happier at PCOM then I would make the move. But, I would make the decision soon so you can get as much tuition money back as possible from LECOM.

I am preety sure I have until friday to be able to get my tuition refunded

WOW. My dad told me one of his classmates in medical school did this as well. We start orientation this coming sunday....so if you are thinking about joining us you better get your wheels turning stat!

As far as what bacchus said....slightly higher COL...but you could always snag a place in Manayunk for uber cheap.

PS if you need any help with anything regarding pcom enrollment PM me....I just went through all that nonsense not too long ago.

Is it really worth restarting your life? Didn't you sign a lease on an apt?

You've picked a school, you'll get an excellent education at LECOM and you'll amass an impressive array of ties. Unless you have serious reasons not to, just stay where you are and concentrate on the classes ahead of you.

I second that. A medical education is 99% what you make it to be. If you study hard and do well, PCOM isn't going to look any better than LECOM really when it comes time to apply for residencies. The only potential advantage I can see is perhaps getting to rotate in some bigger institutions during your clinical years, but LECOM even has opportunities for that like at the University Hospitals in Cleveland. Unless there's some major, major reason drawing you to PCOM, I personally think it'd be easier to just stay in Erie.
