Currently studying for DAT having a hard time with Gen Chem!

Right now I am just going over gen chem on DAT destroyer and I find it very difficult. I practically need to do research on each question. Should I just focus more on my energy on Chad's videos and just watch an take notes? I also bought a DAT kaplan book. I Have exactly 3 months to study for the DAT. What would be the best way to make use of my time?

Step 1: Study/review material
Step 2: Do practice questions
Step 3: Take practice tests

Sounds to me like you're jumping right into Step 2 without understanding the material, so of course you'll be researching every question. As you suggested, you should watch Chad's first and take notes.

Going from Chad's to Destroyer is a huge jump in difficulty because you actually have to work out tons of problems. It took me hours to review Destroyer questions because I would also go back and spend a lot of time understanding the concepts. Try and identify the type of questions you are getting wrong and review that section in Chads.

I would skip the Kaplan book.

If you know someone with an ACS study guide, I would recommend using that. I found it very helpful.

I couldn't agree more with 8_man and acemason. I was recently in your exact same boat. I just finished the chads videos and went to the destroyer, only to have to research every question, and it take forever. I got about a third of the way through and realized I needed to spend a lot more time with Gen Chem, and chads videos alone weren't gonna do it for me. I HIGHLY recommend Examkrackers MCAT Chemistry book. They really take the time and explain the concepts in depth. It took me like 4 days to go through that book, and now I feel a million times better. The things from Chads videos actually make sense now, and now I'll revisit the destroyer with a lot less stress and more confidence. Good luck

have you done the quizzes on Chad's? I was feeling overwhelmed too and the quizzes really helped. personally, I don't like dealing with too much material and soley used Chad's for the chemistries. I watched each video 2-3 times and did each question at least twice. I don't think that destroyer necessarily works for everyone - didn't work for me.
