Is there any cut off point for neurosurgery? If there is a cut off point, is there anything one can do to circumvent it? Does a step2 CK help to circumvent a cut off point in step 1?

Some programs will have cut off points and others will not. If there is a cut off point, there is probably nothing you can do to circumvent it as cut offs are used in deciding whether or not an applicant is extended an interview. It is awfully difficult to impress someone without even getting the chance to speak to them and draw attention to some of the more spectacular items on your resume.

That being said, if you're worried that your Step 1 is low, I would certainly aim to score as high as possible on Step 2. (I'm not sure it will help you circumvent any cut offs but the more outstanding items on your resume, the more attention you can divert away from your Step 1 score)
