Seated vs supine-which one is the standard position to do heart exam/ascultation. I usually use seated position but I prefer to do it in supine position for clinical skill exam. I think it is easier to pull the gown down and expose the exam area only in a supine position. What do you think?
Thanks

i dont think its that important for the exam to be honest. i did all auscultation in the sitting position

The patient needs to be sitting for the CV exam. The only thing that you would need to be somewhat supine for is looking for JVD (at 30 degrees) and then listening to the mitral valve (in left lateral decubitus-I think).
