CV length

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
How long is too long for a CV? Mine is pushing 4-5 pages, is that normal?
I have googled and researched the proper way of preparing a CV and resume over the years for dentistry. I've even asked mentors. Everyone says the same thing. No longer than 2 pages and 3 at the most. Depending on the job you're applying for, most potential employers do not read your entire CV/resume. I've heard from hiring officials that you can almost forfeit your chances for an interview if a CV/resume is too long. It becomes too much to read by search committees, and the majority of the time, they're just scanning down the pages to see if you have experience. There's a way of listing the most important accomplishments and decreassing the length. You may want to have someone who knows how to prepare a CV well take a look at it and revise it for you and give you some tips.

A CV's purpose is just to "put your best foot forward". You should be able to do that in one page. If they want more info they will get in touch with you.

Agreed with my esteemed mentor...though I would say 2 pages is the max

The longer it is the less they'll read...and no one wants to hear about the 3rd place trophy you won in coed badminton sophomore year of high school

See if you can find a good template on google or from a classmate
