Hi everyone,

I'm updating my CV and I have a few questions regarding it.

First off, if I contributed to brainstorming sessions for our lab, which included other projects, should I list those projects even though that was the extent of my involvement?

Also, what is the best way to list research that you've done as an RA in a lab? Right now I just have this for each study I've been involved with:
(University name) Psychology Department
Research Assistant, Study Title
Professor's name, University name
- Did blah, blah, and blah

Is that the best way, or will that get too crowded? Is there a better format that any of you have found?

Finally, for poster presentations etc, how do you list your faculty sponsor in the citation? Just as one of the names?

Thanks in advance!

Are you asking whether if you work on different studies within the same lab, should you list them separately? I would say no, unless there's a clear differentiation between studies in your lab (e.g., does your lab have some RAs work on some project and other RAs on other projects?). Then you can describe the studies that you worked on and put that you helped brainstorm ideas in the description of your lab duties. As for poster presentations, is your faculty advisor listed as an author on the poster (they typically would be, unless it's a student poster fair)? You would use APA format to list poster presentations:

Student, C.S. & Advisor, J. (2008, May). Title of Poster. Poster presented at so and so conference, City, State.

If it's just a student poster and your advisor wasn't an author, I would do it this way:

Student, C.S. (2008, May). Title of Poster. Poster presented at so and so conference, City, State.
Faculty Advisor: Jane Advisor, Ph.D.

I think the rest of what your planned formatting is fine.

But these are just suggestions. You might consider asking your advisor, or maybe a grad student in your lab, for help looking over your CV.

My faculty sponsor wasn't listed as an author because it was the Psi Chi poster session. The name was just listed under faculty sponsor.

Okay, I'll put the lab as one "entry" and talk about general brainstorming etc, then mention specific studies in which I was more involved. Thanks! If our lab doesn't really have a name at this point, can I just put Dr. So-and-So's lab?
