Didn't CVS just lose a couple of age discrimination lawsuits? I came across t his article that says they have a "snowbird" program to retain older workers. And nothing against the program, but do they really have a shortage of pharmacist in FL that they can let older workers temporarily transfer in during the winter months?

In one unusual effort to encourage older workers to stay,CVS Caremarkoffers a “snowbird” program in which several hundred pharmacists and other employees from Northern states are transferred each winter to pharmacies in Florida and other warmer states. Suzanne Fontaine, 66, a certified pharmacy technician at a CVS in Richmond, R.I., said she would have retired years ago if the company had not let her work the winter months at a CVS in Naples, Fla., where she and her husband have a second home.

its amazing that cvs puts efforts into retaining older workers but not younger ones. a lot of ppl who started out with me left the company in less than a year. they got their training, they got their abuse, and then move on. at my store alone last year we had 5-6 techs who left at the same time. they were all well trained with years of experience. then new management came in and they all left. we then had to hire new ppl who were totally clueless and had to retrain all of them.. the store was a total chaos for like 10 months..

Oh, please. The majority of the forums were bashing CVS for the past couple of years because they were "firing all the older workers" and "replacing them with younger newer grads."

Now that they roll out with a program like this, trolls come out and say that "its amazing how the company caters to older workers but not younger ones."

The irony is beyond laughable at this point. Some of you guys are so beyond comprehension that it's actually pretty scary.

It's not designed to retain employees. It just happens to follow the business need for employees. The customers are following the same migratory patterns. They do the same thing on Cape Cod because otherwise they'd be overstaffed in the winter and understaffed in the summer.

Ah, that makes sense.
