Hello
I am planning my P4 rotations and am considering rotations in regional DM offices for CVS and Walmart. I have heard anecdotally that these rotations may lead to positions. The question becomes when in the year do I do the rotation, if my intent is to have a position for the following May. Can anybody comment on the RPh hiring timeline for new graduates for these companies?

Rotation in retail lead to a job? Unlikely... Maybe 4 years ago... They just want an extra body to help day to day operations. Toss in occasional "education content".

Heck, their own internal interns sometimes do not have jobs after graduation or are forced to move 100-200 miles to suburban area...

CVS starts hiring in the summer after P3 year, I believe. Walmart hires a bit later. Your best bet would be to schedule it as early as possible, November at the latest.

What about Walgreens, Rite Aid, and Target, what is their timeline for hiring P4s.

The only chain I know for certain is Rite Aid, as I interned for them. The interviews were during winter break, and offer letters were mailed out within about a month. Sometimes it took people longer to get jobs, based on how many open positions management wanted to have.

He's talking about management rotations, not staffing in the pharmacy. I still don't know of anyone who got a job that way. I do know someone who did the Kroger corporate rotation and ended up in a Kroger community pharmacy residency.

Might want to check the requirements for that rotation before selecting it. The DM of three top chains in my area only accepted their interns for those spots so a Walgreens intern wouldn't be allowed to do a CVS or Walmart DM rotation.

So if you're an intern for say Cvs, how long do you have to respond if they give you an offer, especially if its as early as summer after P3 year? And would you be able to ask for per diem at that point if you got a full time job elsewhere?
