My district leader reached out to me to schedule an in person interview and I’m trying to figure out what to expect to prepare for it.

I’ve been with this district and store for 5 years as a tech and now 4th year intern and am in a major city so landing a position here would be nice instead of moving.

Any advice, guidance and pointers would be appreciated. Is it more behavioral? Will I be asked bout metrics? Is this more a formality or do they actually have positions as most of my CVS classmates haven’t been outreached for interviews. And anything else anyone would like to share?

For my interview when I first graduated, it was more of a formality. I was told I would be getting a full-time position and we just talked about random things in life lol. They'll most likely ask about what you plan to do after graduation because there are many interns who pursue residency even after interning with the company. Know your metric and stuff.

I unfortunately didn’t get much guidance from my PIC with metrics despite my constant asking (he’d say “don’t worry man I got you”). Any specific metrics to focus on and what they stand for?

Its been so many years since I left that company but they should have had a guide for your internship program there, I forget what they called it. Your mentor should have been checking off stuff from your binder full of "phase 1-5" I think so they teach you everything. I would strongly recommend you reach out to your pharmacist mentor and ask him to teach you the metrics. He could really ask about any of the metrics but you need to know them and how to improve these because that's how district managers and supervisors measure performance. I think you had a lazy a** teacher who just wanted to use you as an extra pair of hands on intern hours

I don’t even know how it is possible to work at CVS and not know the metrics. Surely they still post some kind of scorecard with all the metrics and numbers listed? Just look at that and see which ones you know and which ones you don’t. Ask your pharmacist what any you don’t know are. I think the scorecard even has a breakdown what each one means but I could be misremembering. The CVS intranet should have a breakdown as well if you need supplementary information.

They post the scorecard bi weekly and monthly when it comes out and the rank of my store vs others which I went out myself to make copies off and review. However, the components of it aren’t in detail there and I can’t get it out of my PIC. Even the online learning is more checklists of did you discuss vs what the actual information is. I know of the metrics, can name them, tell you relatively where to find them. But what actually goes into its breakdown, how to manipulate it and get it better is something I don’t and really would like to know going into this interview.

My PIC even gave me projects to do in order to boost some of the metrics. You have to straight up ask your PIC to teach you these metrics. You are in an internship with the company and this is the best time to be learning these things. Are there any pharmacists you are close with in the district? Maybe you can try to pick up a few shifts there and ask for some guidance. If all else fails, I would address this during the interview if your district manager asks you questions about metrics and you simply don't know... that your PIC would not teach you the metrics

Gotcha. There used to be a place in the intranet where you could access all that but I don’t recall where or know if that is still the case. Of course it only told you the company line, not all the cheating ways to win but the DM wants to hear the official line anyway not the real way people actually do it. 😉

The metric calculations are broken, so they are treated as though they aren’t, but are “top secret algorithms”. You’ll never find exact measurement methods in writing.

Especially when they are metrics that interfere with each other....say script sync (not compatible for 90 day rx filling) and 90 days requests...><

Ask DL how many hours are given at the store before accepting a job, some stores have 110 tech hours for 1600 weekly scripts budget !!!
