CVS has finally given in! They have produced their own 90 day generic plan!

For an annual $10 membership fee, you can receive a 90 day supply of a selected number of generic medications for $9.99.

They plan to revamp their HealthSavings Pass (which was a waste of plastic IMO).

I love how CVS was totally against price matching, but now they have finally given in.

This reminds me of the scenario wheere i used to work as an intern for retail: An obese lady came in (you literally can see she's morbidly obese) with a prescription of Lipitor 80mg daily, Lopid 600 BID, and on her hand was a SUPER KING SIZE of burger with a bottle of Norvasc from CVS + a 25 dollar transfer coupon...and said this "I'm gonna wait for this...I only have 10 mins. Please hurry".

I can't stand some of the idiots that come in with these transfer coupons. I understand it's hard times and $25 is quite a bit of money, but please! It's like they have no dignity!

Our coupon is only valid for transferred prescriptions. This lady handed me a new rx from a doctor's office along with a coupon. I tell her this is a NEW rx, not a TRANSFERRED one. She proceeds to tell me that this counts as a transferred rx because it was transferred from the doctor's office to her and then to us. Nice try.

These people are just going to end up transferring rx's out again when CVS, Walmart or Target runs their ads.

To be fair, you can't expect the lay public to fully understand what a "transfer" is. The big chains should just do it for every new prescription, as the current procedure only lets the big fat annoying people get their way while the nicer folks don't get anything for following the rules.

These coupon deals should just be outlawed. They are ultimately a disservice to patients who spread their meds around to multiple pharmacies so that no pharmacist has a true complete profile to look at.

Add to that, the increased price competition (what happened to competing on service?) means increased volume to make up for it and "Joe the Cheapo" will get a script filled for Tobradex with 12 refills and go blind because one of his pharmacists was cranking out 400 scripts a day and missed it.

Yah I got this settlement form a few months ago and supposedly I'm getting a check for $100 or something. I don't remember...all I knew is someone sued CVS and, just like every other smart corporation out there, settled and that was that.

At my store we accept them on new rxs because what is going to stop them from taking the new rx to walgreens... have them type it up fill it then show back up and tell you to call walgreens to get the tx, not worth the hassel, just accept it... yes it sucks but what are u gonna do??

I actually have a case though 🙂 They didnt pay my workers comp hospital bill... now its on my credit report, now I cant get my student loans for pharmacy school, now I have a hold on my classes.... so yep even if the other HUGE factors weren't involved, with just what I have told you.. I definitely have a case.

Frankly if CVS didn't as a stock holder or anyone outside of the pharmacists, I'd be livid. The current pharmacy model is neutral leaders to get people in the door to buy other stuff. I know CVS reps have said they still make money on this, but I tend not to trust mouthpieces. 😉

Those transfer coupons are ridiculous. We've had a couple of long-time customers complain about them. Way to go--reward fly-by-night never-to-be-seen-again customers, while upsetting and disrespecting the long-term customers.
