So i recently applied to become a pharmacy tech last night at 6pm. This morning at 7am I get a message that I was not selected. This seems odd. Did they take a look at my app? Would you recommend applying to other cvs stores?

That seems odd. Unless the app is automated and would reject applications that don't meet CVS criteria...

I don't have any prior pharmacy tech experience beside volunteering at a hospital pharmacy. I am certified. Maybe lack of experience could be the reason why, but it still seems odd that they got back in less than 13 hours... I am now looking at the CVS career home. One says that the job is still open and another cvs site doesn't say anything about the job being open. I'm confused :/

CVS's recruiting is notorious for being... bad.

It's possible that the job open on the one site is because they didn't close it. I see it all the time. Or a manager will leave it posted for when they need it (reason - see first sentence) because can be difficult to open up new reqs that are not pharmacist roles.

If you happen to also be concerned with your application / resume, you can buff that up and try again.

Is it recommended to apply to more than one cvs store or one at a time? I am thinking of another close by.

What I would suggest is going directly to the store, resume in hand.. If you can speak to the Pharmacist Manager, that would be ideal. Ask if they are hiring or when they may be looking to hire and give them the resume. If they are not hiring, ask them if there's another store nearby that may be looking for techs. Then, see if you can re-do the application online. Attention to detail. Is there anything you missed last time? Was there anything you could enhance your resume with (do this part before you hand it over to the pharmacist manager).

As an employee of the company, I would even say as a tech, don't limit yourself to just CVS. Is there a Walmart pharmacy nearby? An independent pharmacy? Any other chain pharmacy? Try them, too. Go in with your resume in hand. Again, ask if another location is hiring if they themselves are not. If any of them give you the experience, you can take that experience to CVS if that's where you wish to be, or continue working in which ever location makes you happiest while you work towards your goals.

So how it goes is when an applicant submits the application it first goes to the third party HR, they approve it. Then it is available for the PICs in the region. It could be very well the position was already filled but you applied. Honestly, CVS has a major issue in attracting talents. Most of the applications I have seen are either overqualified and totally under qualified, there is little in between. CVS is taking anyone really, so I would call the Starsource number, or call a PIC.

I applied to two other CVS nearby. Within several minutes I got a response that I was not selected. Feeling a bit discouraged. Not sure if i entered something incorrectly that's causing this or they already had the position filled and left the application open.

Sounds like you didn't pass their personality test or VJT. If you didn't, not much can be done and you can re-apply in 6 months.

Always lie on those personality tests. If CVS asks you,"Are you a doormat who is willing to take abuse day in and day out?" Say yes
