So we got this FAQ about the immunizations..basically they are really pushing pharmacists to do all this training and give them..and one of the Q's was 'what's in it for me' and the answer was some corporate BS along the lines of "be able to build a better relationship with patients and interact with patients on a deeper level"..anothe Q was does CVS reimburse if a special state license is required, the A was NO. So..
why would a pharmacist at CVS want to spend his/her OWN MONEY to get the state license (if needed) to DO MORE WORK for NO EXTRA MONEY..I mean I get that a few pharmacists out there will buy the BS about buliding more trust, interacting more, blah blah..but really..you would be giving up your money, to make the company more money, and do more work..*raise your hand if you are a CVS pharmacist who is NOT overworked*..oh..nobody!
They won't be sending in overlap to verify scripts while you are tied up giving shots..so basically..longer wait times = unhappy patients = everyone stressed.
Am I missing something here???? I asked my pharmacist and he was like yeah that's why you just found that paper when you were taking out the trash...because it is such BS I just chunked it..I have enough work already. My pharmacist works 63 hours a week..fills 600 on a Monday, NO OVERLAP EVER. He doesn't want any extra work.

you make 10 bucks a pop on a shot, do a few hundred here and there and the finance really adds up

personally, i think the rph should be given a buck or 3 of that profit for giving the shot

Young and naive student...you are now learning the evils of corporate CVS...🙂

Its all about the profit and getting people in the door...Its a phenomenol business model...ingenious yet sucks for the pharmacist who has to fill, answer phones, doctor calls consults and all the while go give a shot...No thanks...I will pass... 🙂

well that would be the more sensible thing to do... but this is a corporation we're talking about...

one of these days (and i hate to say this), somebody from cvs or walg is gonna go "postal" from this ridiculous workload

The worst I ever did was argue with the regional manager...Whatever, he really pissed me off...Not only was I stressed, over worked and really tired...Them he asked me why PCI calls werent getting done...I wanted to punch him...

i think a series of major mistakes is what will take to stop this current tide

That is the million-dollar question with immunizations. What is in it for the pharmacist? I love the corporate BS about helping the community and being a community hero by giving immunizations. The facts are the company makes $10 to $13 per shot and the Pharmacist makes $0 extra. They force you give shots any time the pharmacy is open with no waiting as the thousand signs say posted all over the store. They give you no extra help or hours to do this.

So what is in it for the Pharmacist? Nothing except more stress, more work and more aggravation on top of all the stress and work you already have to much of.

I think it would make much more sense to have the CVS MinuteClinic perform immunizations rather than the RPh. With all of these new patient care programs rolling out (PCI, CSI) it becomes difficult enough to just be a pharmacist, especially in busier stores.

I heard our training is going to be paid by CVS, may be I can get trained then leave the BS behind, and finally get something worth my time for once :highfive:! What do you think guys?

they get too backed up, so then we have to help em out, they also dont accept some insurances that we at the pharmacy can bill....for these reasons the rph immunizes at wags who have clinics in the store

I say you get a job at CVS and go strapped with a bomb to your chest the first day of work and blow the place up. Think of how much airtime and publicity that will get CVS. Someone has to make a stand, why not you?!?!

It will probably lead into what is happening over here. Our incentive to become immunization certified? Our job. What they did over here was basically cut the staff that wasn't certified in order for us to fulfill our "immunizations from 10-4 everyday" advertising. If you weren't certified you either get a crappy shift at a really far store or you just don't get a shift at all.

Your username is far too fitting.
