Random thread, anyone worked, know anyone that worked in CVS in the D.C. area?

I know some of the locations are very unsafe..."ghetto." So having second thoughts about it.

...don't want to die just making a living

Why not go visit the stores? Sometimes seeing the area you'll be in is the best indicator. Are they giving you a choice of stores or just putting you where they need you (i.e. where nobody else wants to go)? Any big city is going to have bad areas...

Yeah, that's probably the best course of action. I figured I'll give one of the pharmacies a call.

In terms of floating, I will need to clarify with the supervisor.

But I assume that usually, as a floater, you will be placed in stores where there is a need...and I guess usually those are the stores no one wants to work in?

Or rather the shifts that nobody wants to take 😉 Most stores, good and bad, will need floaters at some point. I guess floating wouldn't be such a bad idea on a temporary basis if you wanted to try some stores out and find one that's a good fit?

OP: just curious, is CVS hiring in the D.C. area? I'm actually from the midwest but may try to relocate there next year and I work now for CVS.. thanks in advance!

yes they are hiring in DC area. You might also qualify for a target market bonus of ~15k plus another 5k for more in expenses if you are an intern for them now.

have any of you guys been to cities like baltimore and DC?????????

do not sign with a company to work X-amount of years without living or even visiting the place

sure, the suburbs in around DC and bmore are fine......montgomery county and howard county in MD........you cant get any better than fairfax county in northern viginia..........but once u make a wrong turn and end up in DC, u are in for a rude awakening

and the traffic on 495, 695, and 95 are horrible........commute times will kill you........at least there is decent public transportation

please visit the area before considering working in these two metro areas

I can not imagine dealing with commute times out there. I have one traffic light on my 20 minute drive to work and sometimes that one light aggravates me. Country life is the life for me😀

i work at the cvs in dc on benning road. Believe me, if you can work here, there is no where you cant work, this is as tough as its goin to get. About 1000 rx's filled on the daily and around the first of the month can skyrocket to 1500. Its plenty of characters you will deal with working here. There is never a dull moment in this store. There is always something going on. like yesterday there was a fight in the line of people waiting to get there prescriptions. One of the girls was pregnant and she initiated the fight! luckily the cops came in time, and why wouldnt they, we have them for 12 hours a day to stay in the front of the store along with lost prevention.

I'll say it, black communities are some of the worse places to work. A buddy of mine works for CVS also with constant police presence, you can guess what demographics of customers/patient he serves.
