Hello fellow pharms,

I have my orientation Monday 4:00pm and I was told it roughly takes 4 hours where I will learn about my 3 week training before my regular schedule..

Does anyone know how is this 3 week training and what is done during it? Will it be online, on weekend, or a time they give you?

Anything helps! Thanks!

You will sit in a room for 4 hours talking about HIPPA and customer service. You will then do a bunch of modules at home that CVS is forced to offer due to previous lawsuits. You will also do some modules that attempt to teach you how to run the register and do basic functions in the computer. They are helpful but do not address a lot of issues that you will run into with customers.

Wait the 4 hours is when I go to orientation? And all the modules online will be done at home? And for doing so, do I get paid?

Some modules you will get paid for, others you will not. You store manager may schedule you for a shift and have you do the modules in the office during the shift (meaning you are technically getting paid for all of them). I personally was told to do them before entering the store (did them at home) and was only able to get paid for the ones that had an attached time sheet to turn in. You will get paid mileage and time for the orientation.

Do you remember how much modules they were? Like, if I want, can I finish em in 5-10 hours?

I think so far I'v done 60+ modules though not all of them were a part of the new hire process. They will take anywhere from 5 seconds to 30 minutes each.

Did you get paid for however long It took you to complete each module? So for 30 mins you spent, then for 30 mins of pay or was it fixed?

You record how long it took but I think I was only ever paid for like 5 of them

So you can pretty much easily say you worked on a certain module for 3 hours, even if you only work 30 mins? Or do they have a way of knowing the actual amount of time i spent?

Even if you could, is that really how you'd like to start off with your employer? They're giving you a job...

No, I don't lol but if I am home, and doing online modules, it is possible that i get up to get a cup of water or even use bathroom during that. But i doubt they will even pay for training tho to begin with anyways.. lol

If you are so uptight about an extra 10 dollars you might want to consider applying somewhere with better pay to begin with

chill guys i didnt do it ... LOL i was just making a point that it would be that easy if someone wanted to. Either way, cant wait to start! Thanks for the infos 😀

Not too sure about the 3 week thing, but for modules there is a set limit on how much time they'll pay you so there is an upper cap for those. Message me if you have any more questions.

Wait so how was your orientation then? How long? What was done there? And how soon after your orientation you started working? And also, for orientation do we get paid?

My orientation (NCO) was like 8 hours and we just went through the introduction of CVS and what is to be expected as an employee etc. and read through a lot of manuals/packets.

You can pretty much start working anytime I think after NCO, some people were already working when we had orientation. It'll depend on your pharmacy manager. Your supposedly to do training before doing that assigned workstation at work. But usually they'll put you on production to only count or help at pick-up since those don't require much learned knowledge to execute.

With my experience with CVS everything is paid for because they are trying to invest in their employees so all those mandatory classes, OJT, and modules are paid for if you record them on the payroll slip they hand out at the end of class or the end of the workbooks your suppose to bring on your OJT days.

What year are you in Pharmacy? I'm gonna be a P2 starting this Fall and I was offered $12.00 an hour. Does the pay increase as you progress in school? and if you dont mind, how much $ per hour did you started with and what is it currently? Are you liking CVS so far?

Hi studentpharmacist1995, I can say that the pay does increase as you continue on with your professional years. I've been with CVS for 3 years as a tech now. I will be a P1 in the fall and I will be an intern with the company. I have a phone interview next week with them and I'll let you know how much I was offered. As a tech, I started with $10 and currently it is $10.81. This company is not the best at giving raises to their techs and eventually it will cap off. But I think it's better as you move up the ladder.
