I got an early commitment offer from CVS Michigan: $5,000 signing up bonus, $123,522.00 based on 44 hours a week. I am planing to stay with CVS, but I want to work in chicargo area. Does anyone know the signing up bonus and annual salary in the state of Illinoi?

Thank you

For how many years are you signing on to get that sign-on bonus? If it's over 1 year, I would definite pass on that. You never know if you will like working for a particular company as a pharmacist and really compared to your salary, $5,000 will be pretty insignificant. That's just my 2 cents, for whatever it is worth.

5k for early, what about the rest of the sign on bonus?

Thats it. A lot of companies in NYC area are not even offering sign on bonuses so 5k is competitive. Compared to 8k last year, and 10k before that, its kind of depressing. The 5k is only for interns that have been with the company too.

but he's in Michigan though?

yes, I am a current intern with CVS. That 5k is for one year only, and it is for the early commitment. No signing up bonus.
I am living in Michigan, but I might move out of Michigan.

Just keep in mind that the sign on bonus is tacked on as part of your salary for tax purposes - so taxes will be withheld from the bonus. Plus, if you jump ship, you owe them either pro-rated or full bonus, depending on their policy.

BUT, sometimes there's hope:

Check IRS Publication 17, page 85 under "Repayments"

I talked to someone and they said they only have positions open in central Illinois (perioa, u of i, bloomington, etc), with sign on bonuses there. There is a high population of pharmacists for CVS, at least thats what I was told, in Chicago. So if a position did open up, don't think there'd be a sign on bonus.
