I heard cvs will start new hires at 9$/hr n the max pay is $10/hr, is this true? Are they not better off working $15/hr at mcdonalds?

Educate yourself. Wages and rates are highly dependent on the market and less the employer. Please let me know how CVS plans to hire a tech in San Francisco when the min wage is more than $9/hr? Or maybe they just won't have techs?!?!

educate yourself. when have McD or any fast food place pays $15/hr? there are current protests for unskilled workers to be paid that but nothing have came to it

Uh, educate yourself? Could just the internet, but that sounded a little rude. Certain cities have $15 minimum wage (including San Francisco), so if you could drive to the city, you would make more at McD.

Where I am in Texas, CVS starts at $10.50 (no experience, though that could have gone up, but probably not) and I believe goes up to at least $18 (not much higher than that). I have heard of techs in other places in the country starting lower/higher (location matters of course). I have heard of techs at other pharmacies starting higher in my area. I know we have lost several techs to Walmart, and I think losing any employee to Walmart is a bad sign... haha

In rare instances where minimum wage is $15, CVS won't be paying 9 or 10 dollars.

rude is how i would define a lot of pharmacists nowadays. they are as bad if not worse than the customers.

From posts on this board, it goes up to maybe $11 in NYC area. So yes, that is the range and it is not very competitive.

our store used to start the tech at $13/hr. but now new hires will start at $9. i guess its just this pathetic location.

no shame here. if I am rude to you on the forum, you probably posted a stupid statement or asked a stupid question

also if certain cities have minimum wage at $15 than working at CVS won't be less than McD. try again kelp. looks like both of you can't think critically

any admin like to ban this guy? or is profanity allow on this forum?
SDN uses a profanity filter; certain words are filtered. Arse is obviously not one of them.

Banning users is serious stuff and not done for very mild infractions (if profane language were even one). If we banned every user that used a mild epithet (ones commonly used in day to day conversation such as arse/ass), then we would have no users left.

However, users are reminded to remain civil and that being rude to each other does constitute a TOS violation, regardless of whether or not you think the other user is asking a stupid question or is being an arse.

I don't think responding to 'stupidity' with rudeness is helpful. I don't think being surprised that CVS pays techs so abysmally is stupid either (naive perhaps, but not stupid). I don't think asking for information about wages is stupid. You specifically stated "educate yourself. when have McD or any fast food place pays $15/hr?" I gave examples and then answered the OP's question (which is really why you should have even click on this thread to begin with).

While McDonald's would not pay higher than CVS, there are several McDonald-esque jobs that would (and do in my area). My friend works at In-and-Out Burger and makes more than me. Costco's starting wage is higher than mine (including working in the food court). A pizza place near my house was advertising a higher starting wage for drivers. I know some grocery stores in my area pay higher than CVS (and I am not talking about the pharmacy). I know someone who works at Lowe's as a stocker and makes about the same as me. CVS loses good techs, because their pay sucks.

This forum is here to help people who have questions (specifically students) which will, of course, sometimes be 'stupid'. If you want to call people stupid, that's fine, it's your right.
