It's theoretically possible, but I would imagine that you would have hemodynamic collapse before it becomes evident.

Because if tamponade wasn't high on your differential before you noticed an obscure physical exam finding, the patient is already dead.

I kid. But really, I don't know.

Aren't their veins already distended with cardiac tamponade (I mean, JVD is part of the triad)? Hence making a paradoxical increase in JVP on inspiration difficult or impossible to see (i.e, in tamponade there is already distention regardless of the respiratory cycle they are in).
