Hi Folks,
Anyone out there has ever taken or heard about the Bench test at Case western reserve university?
I know about the procedures we are supposed to do,just wanted to hear a first hand experience from someone..
Kindly PM me or post it here.
I have mine scheduled for the 23 rd and 24th of Feb..

can u let us know what all procedures do they ask in the CERU exam. Will be happy to know about . And by the way i wasnt called for that. It is just for curioisity.

Hi Krissh,
Its a two day event.We are asked to perform six procedures.
1.Class II cavity preparation fo amalgam
2.Composite restoration
3.CD teeth setting on articulator
4.Inlay preparation
5.Tooth preparation for complete gold crown
6.Waxing of the gold crown preparation
And then an interview
Maybe I'll be able to give more first hand information after 24th..

all the best and thanx for letting us know about the test at CWRU. I think u will do fine and i think u r the only one who got the interview call. Can i know how many seats are there in that program and the structure of the program including the fee structure.

hey guys, i have travelling for sometime now. just reachedback.will be gone again for a month.thrs so much to cattch up on ,on this forum.

how did u practice forthis exam? i havent handled a handpiece forthe past 1 and half yrs,tht was the reason i didnt apply to cwrs and few of the california schools. its a space based program right?


has anybody applied to marquette and still interested? do u guys have any info on their interview schedule?i called thm up a week back and they told me right now they r reviewing the applications and a few students will b called for interview. they didnt tell me whn. it seems they have practical exam sometimes , its for the committe to decide thts wht the lady told me.
if any1 has any info pls let me know.

CWRU is a spaced based program,around two seats are available,two year duration..
Not that expensive,cleveland is cheap place to live.
CWRU is a good school.
I'll let you know the exact fee structure when I come back,

I did fine.The school is very good..The campus is very beautiful and I definitly recommend future applicants to apply to CWRU.
They have individual chambers for evry student,train the students for NERB very well.
I agree there were only seven people called for interview and bench test but scores were not the criteria as one of the girls with me was from Romania and her score was 87.
And before you think,I will clear your doubts that ethnicity was not the issue,as there were two girls from Romania and (surprise)I was the only Indian.
I sincerely recommend future applicants to apply.
Seven people were called and three will be selected..

For the benefit of any future applicant I am posting my experience here.
Total of senen people were called ,three were interviewed on 8th and 9th of feb.And three along with me were interviewed on 23 and 24th.(two romania,one ukraine and me).
On the first day we had an informal interview.Then the chairman of Operative dept took us to our various chambers and gave us our assignments.
Class II MO on #14 and fill with amalgam,
Class III composite and fill on #10,
Inlay prep on #20,
Gold crown on #19,
all these from 10 am to around 2:30pm(no breakfast or lunch provided)
Then we waxed the crown (very limited instruments were provided for all the procedures).
On the second day they gave us articulated casts and we had to make occlusal rims and then do Class I teeth setting.(wew were given teeth)my teeth set looked as if the dentists of prehistoric time have used them😀 .They were trimmed out of shape burnt!!😀 and all were of different sizes and shades(gray,white,brown,yellow!!).
And then we were asked to disign an RPD!!using surveyors,and write all the treatment plan and etc etc...
Then when I went to submit my Teeth setting the chairman told me that he purposly gave me teeth like that,he wanted to see whether I make a fuss or not!!they don't want fussy students😱 .
I could have told him that I was so hungry and tired that didn't have nay glucose left to creat a fuss:laugh: .
Any way take care,will be informed in two weeks..

Pinktooth, how much is the estimated cost of CaseW? Tuition? Just curious.....

CWRU is cheaper.35K tuition fee each year and cleveland is a cheap place to live.the projection comes around 50-55K per year.They will send full details if I get selected then maybe I can post the exact figures in detail.

Thanks a lot for providing us a lot of information.How did u do all these procedures.It's been quite a lot since i touched my instruments.I dont know whether i can do these procedures with much confidence.All the very best for your admissions.

I have just graduated (completed my internship) in Oct last year so it was not much of a time lag.
But it was OK when I saw how nervous other people were!!😉
I hope I did fine rest is upto the admission committe..

Did u design a RPD -using surveyors!?..In my college we never used surveyors that's becos all we make is only TPDentures!..looks like I cannot apply to this school since I don't know to survey a caste 🙁
 
Hi Dentaldoc,
Don't be disheartened.Read about surveyors and think that RPD design is not the only criteria for selection...
