I am currently a third year, My GPA is a 3.1-3.2. I have repeated two classes, and I received a D in my physiology class last qtr, and I am yet to take the DATs. I think I will get around the 20's. I have a few extracurricular activities, which include leadership. I have worked in a dental assisting experience, and two years of research experience, and I should be contributing author for a research article. I plan on retaking physiology in the summer, I have all the pre-reqs. What are my chances?

1) 3.1-3.2 uptrend or downtrend?
2) can't tell you your chances until you take the DAT. you cant assume anything yet....

No one really knows what your chances are.

Your extracurriculars look fine. Retake physiology and do well on the DAT (it's difficult to predict what you will get on the DAT) and then come back and ask what your chances are with your DAT score.

According to predents.com, 50% of applicants with a 3.1-3.2 science GPA were accepted. Score well on the DAT and you'll be fine.

Its more of a fluctuating trend, I had a 2.8 then 2.5 then started going up to the 3.0's then I hit a 3.3 and then with the D i had a 2.8 and then I had a 3.5 last quarter.

I don't know how well I will do but I'm going to try my best, and hope I get around the 20's. Not saying I will, but just hoping for.

But Do you think the D will hinder my chances of getting in anywhere in the upcoming cycle? also, I have 40 semester units with a 3.5 that are factored into that 3.1-3.2. Also, should I wait till I repeat the class or should I just apply on the 15th of May? Thanks!

Physiology is a class that is taught in dental school. The ADCOMS may see you scoring a D in that class at the university level as a red flag. HOWEVER, I don't think that this alone would ruin your application. Your GPA is a bit low and your grades have been inconsistent. Hopefully your BCP/Prereqs and science GPA are higher than your cumm. GPA, and hopefully you will score well on the DAT. EC's look good, you will need a strong DAT.

You can always retake that class or take more upper division science and get A's in those classes.

Biochemistry, Immunology, Endocrinology, Cell Bio,
ETC ETC... all good chances to show the ADCOMS what you can do.

My Bio gpa is a 3.1 and physical science is a 3.23. my cum is a 3.2 If I do well on the DAT's where should I apply? I reside in california. Thank for all your help guys, its encouraging!!!! 🙂
