Hi, so I made a D in biochemistry 1 and I feel unhappy about it. I was planning on applying to dental school this upcoming summer but now I am not sure if I should apply. I think most schools require biochem as a prerequisite with a C or better. My problem is that my professor seem to not teach what is going to be on the exam instead of things that are on the exams. He tells us what not to study but those things seem to be things that are on the exam. I know that's probably not a good reason on why I made a D but I been studying the course most of the semester and I felt that every test that I took, I did well on it. This professor always ask us on how he can help us do better in his class but he does not take our opinion into consideration.

Should I try to apply to dental school this upcoming summer or retake biochemistry 1 and apply the next cycle?

retake it in the spring semester and make sure you pass and Apply this coming cycle. Im sure if you pass and they ask in the interview what happened, just explain to them

My school does not offer biochem 1 in the spring semester just biochem 2 (only 1 person is taking that class).

your gpa isn't to bad but your dat score is really good. i would apply and then retake biochem next fall. just explain what happened in the interview

Does your school have like a comprehensive biochemistry? At Michigan state we have biochem 4** and it's called comprehensive, it's not biochem 1. So I'm assuming it's easier. At least that's what I'm taking. I don't plan on taking biochem 1. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

The course I just took is just called Biochemistry 1 (Chem 4**)
