Hey all. Thanks for the great advice. One question . . . are there any programs in the west that are D.O.-friendly besides Banner Good Sam and Phoenix Integrated? I know Utah is not. I'm going to guess that Portland and Seattle aren't either. What about the three in Colorado?

How about the midwest or Texas?

Thanks again.

Most of my info is from who I've seen where - so it's by no means complete.

Texas
- UT - San Antonio has a DO that's a 2nd year currently.
- JPS, Fort Worth - several DO's at my interview. Loosely affiliated with TCOM (faculty are TCOM faculty, and students rotate at JPS, but not officially a university program).

Colorado - St. Joe's - several DOs at my interview.

I was in Oregon for Thanksgiving, which is where I am originally from and where I hope to return. I took my mom to her doctors appointment up at OHSU and made it a point to look at the initials behind all of the physicians names in that building. Not one single D.O. 🙁
Most of them were internal medicine, I do not know for sure about OBGYN. I know 2 students from my school (CCOM) matched there last year in anes. and family. On the OHSU OBGYN residency website it mentions having to pass the USMLE, no word about the COMLEX. I am unsure if they accept it or not.

So how about Texas, or Mid West? I've passed USLME (only a 206), have research, publications, leadership if that helps. Planning on taking Step 2 at beginning of fourth year, so these scores (hopefully better than 206) will be available to programs.

There are only 2 programs in Colorado. UCHSC has at least one DO as a chief resident right now.

I know OHSU has interviewed at least DO candidates. I don't think they are DO opposed. If you want to know, is there anything wrong with calling the program to ask?

Not sure if u r interested in Cali but UCSD and Kaiser Oakland both have at least one DO🙂
