I've read that 95% of the specialties use the ERAS. If anyone is a 4th year or are familiar with the matching process could you give me some feedback on whether or not D.O. students are competitive for many of the more competitive specialties like orthapaedics, radiology, opthamology.

I would actually hesitate to say the Rads spots are not a straight "yes." I have known several well qualified DO applicants who applied to MD Rads residencies who were top of their class and were given the big DENY stamp.

i think your first (and more important) question should be...what kind of student are you?
If you are a bottom 10% (MD or DO)...i wouldn't count on much...if you are a top 10% (MD or DO) i would say you have a great shot.

Who gives a poop about class rank.

The best way to find out if you even have a shot of getting into specific programs, regardless of the specialty, is to call the program. Ask them what their qualifications have been in the past, and find out if they take DOs. If they do take DOs, then see if you can get in contact with them to find out what they did to get in. Also be sure to find out if you need a USMLE score in addition to your COMLEX. I have seen that not taking the USMLE has held some DO students back from getting an AMA residency. If the program does take DOs and you think you are a good candidate, then ROTATE THEIR AND KICK ASS! I can't say enough about your chances increasing if you did really well while rotating at a specific program.
