Basically This is a question that I am interested in and the answers will also play major contribution to my future. If Osteopathy "emphasizes the interrelationship between structure and function of the body and recognizes the body's ability to heal itself" (wiki), then Please do elaborate as to why or why not do D.O's Approve or Disapprove of the Bates method. And do not change or rearrange my question and go to a direction that is not stated in this post. Basically the Question is the title. Please leave detailed explanations as to why you concluded your answer. If you do not know what The Bates Method is, it was created by the Ophthalmologist William H. Bates; It is basically his Book, The Cure of Imperfect Eyesight by Treatment Without Glasses AKA Perfect Sight Without Glasses, and his newsletter which is Better Eyesight Magazine. His Method's are disapproved by the Optometrists and Ophthalmologist for whatever reasons. So basically he taught people the proper way to use their eyes in order for them to relax their mind and eyes to relieve tension that has built up to cause a lot of the eyesight problems.(This is as well his theory as to why individuals' eyesight would get worse). Anyways I have gone of topic but much must be told in order to properly understand what his method is actually about. Please do your own research into this subject matter to beter comprehend this method. I look forward in interest on the subject at hand.

Correction are always a plus to better help me and others to learn.

"ATTENTION" Do Not Use Wiki as sources to learn more about his method, because it is False and misleading. (Probably Written by Most Optometrists and Ophthalmologists who do not support the Method.

This doesn't smell like trolling at all.

Ex. axial myopia: Structure (eyeball is too long)--> function (myopia because the focusing is screwy).

You can't just will away structural abnormalities, that's like telling little Susie to just "walk it off" with regards to the scoliosis.

The "healing itself" part is way out of context. DOs don't walk around expecting anything and everything to just work out on its own.

Sorry, I don't do homework assigned by some random guy on the internet.

Why do i get the feeling that I'm talking to teenagers? I'm not here to Troll.
If the structure of the eye is controlled by the muscles how do you tell me that it is an abnormality if it is possible to relieve the muscles from their tension? Its same same concept as pulling a back muscle. It takes time to for the pulled muscle to relax and go back to its normal state. To relieve of such tension work must be put to find out the cause of the tension, hence the subject must learn to relax his eye in order to relieve the tension. Just like in a pulled muscle.

to K31 this is not a homework assignment this is For DO's and not students like yourself. No one asked you to post your opinion since you have no knowledge of this subject at all.

I am still waiting for a legit answer as to the Question stated in the Original Post, So far i found students who don't know what they are even talking about.

Dont troll on my posts and i wont have to write responses to trolls.

I disapprove.. because it's ****ing horse****..

The osteopathic forum is for DO students to discuss their training, not for new registrants who list themselves as psychiatry students to make suppositions about what osteopathic medicine entails. As to the other responses, your posts here do appear trollish.

Closing.
