Could anyone please explain the role of the words MUST and MAY in answering this question.I am just confused...

I know that in incresed vertical overlap the cusps will be taller and in increased horizontal overlap the cusps will be shorter,but what difference this must and may make?could someone help me in clearing this doubt?

I know mandibular central incisors OPPOSE with only one tooth,but maxillary canine occlude with mandibular first premolar and oppose (just out of contact) mandibular canine.Is OPPOSING cosidered as a part of OCCLUSION?

Normally , the facial cusp tip of maxillary first premolar oppose facial embrasure between mandibular first and second premolar.

During lateral excursive movements, maxillary teeth move distolingually on the working side,am i right?lateral excursive is same as lateral protrusive,right?

so how it can be explained that , During lateral excursive movements, the facial cusp ridge of maxillary first premolar on working side oppose distal cusp ridge of first premolar and mesial cusp ridge of second premolar?

You can determine by the diagram, or even by the arrows.
Remeber if you see max teeth with arrows (the arrows point the mand movement) - that's the real movement, soif arrow point to the left, that's the left lateral movement.

if you see mand teeth the arrows will indentify the max movement, which will be opposite to the real (actual) movement of the mandible.

If i see a question with a diagram of 2molars and 2 premolars , and in the diagram it appears to be that the 2 arrows are directing buccally.they have mentioned that it indcate the direction of movement of mandibular teeth over maxillary teeth.So i understand that this mandibular movement is a lateral,working side.But about the side ,as the premolars are shown on the right of molars in the diagram,this will be of left lateral working side,right?
the answer given is right lateral working side.

It;s always easier to explain with example. So I will use yours.
So you said "diagram of 2molars and 2premolars"
First thing you should do is to determine which are those teeth - max/man left/right. For the sake of the example, say they are maxilary right Premolars and molars.

Then you look at the arrow: pointing bucal (that means that the mand teeth are moving bucal in regard to the maxilary teeth). Meaning that the mandible is moving to the bucal on the same side, meaning it is moving to the RIGHT (the teeth in the example are right)

It doesn't matter how the diagram (photo) of the teeth is presented, just as long as you can determine whether the teeth are in which dental arch and in which side.

If this still doesn't help - post again the whole example.

It again depends on Right or LEft teeth are presented. (see the above example)

hi, i can have a solution for those mandibular movement questns..

when u hve a question, showing maxillary movements on mandibular teeth, just reverse the arrows , and then u can just make ur own mandible move, and then u will end with the correct answer, i tried it and beleive me , it takes just 10 seconds!!

In the first part of my question the picture was of right maxillary posteriors,so i understand that the buccal arrows shows the right lateral working side.

In the second part of my question the picture was of left mandibular posteriors.Thus the distobuccal arrows shows maxillary movement.So by reversing it we get the mandibular movt,ie mesiobuccal.thus it shows nonworking lateral movement.About the side are they asking about the side to which mandible moves? or the side where nonworking movement takes place?In this case as it is showing the left mandibular posteriors...nonworking side is in the left,am i right?so answer should be left lateral nonworking side.

About the side are they asking about the side to which mandible moves? or the side where nonworking movement takes place?
The movement is the right (right side is the working side; left side is the non working side). Since they gave you the left post. mand molars, you have to pick an answer towards them. Meaning that the movement will be right lateral movement, but the side is going to be the nonworking side (Left nonworking side ).

In this case as it is showing the left mandibular posteriors...nonworking side is in the left,am i right?so answer should be left lateral nonworking side.

Hey, I emailed you just few minutes ago.. I don't have the decks, but I can help you with the questions by your example:

so your diagram shows mand teeth - that means that the arrows point the movement of the maxillary teeth (which is the UNTRUE direction, since the mandible only moves, so to make it easier - just reverse the arrows).

You are not saying left or right mand teeth so clearfy that before I explain you the rest of the case in details, but if the arrow points to the left (then reverse it to the RIGHT - that's the side of the movement), okay?

Now the nonworking/working part is easy - if arrows are pointing to the right (as in our case) as the movement is to the right it would be R working Movement (as in the asnwer you gave). From the answe I conclude that the teeth are the right lower premolars and molars on the diagram, right? Let me know if I guessed it correctly.

I think the answer should be alveolar crest group.[for all 4 movts as apical is only for extrusive and rotational].which one is correct answer?

the muscle is digastric and the second answer is horizontal overlap of teeth. correct me if wrong.thanks
 
Please help me with this question.

Which tooth is most likely to be an incisor with cingulum offset from center?

The ans given is mandibular lateral incisor.
But i think maxillary central also has a cingulum offset from centre.
so, how to answer this?will be of great help if someone could clear my doubt.

Anterior Guidance would be the influence of contacting surface of teeth on mandibular movement.
Overbite is the vertical distance by which the maxillary incisors overlap the mandibular incisors and Overjet is the horizontal distance between them.
And greater the overbite, taller the posterior cusps and greater the overjet shorter are the posterior cusps....so if i try to use this concept in this question......what would improve the anterior guidance
i think should be decrease overjet and increase overbite.
