Hi all,
I'm planning to give exam in sept end
I'm totally out of the basic sciences as I've done my BDS in 2007 so every topic appears new to me 😕
I wanna keep myself motivated and well on track for the exam
So in short I'll post my daily progress
In that way I won't skip studying :naughty:

 I'm gonna start with decks giving a brief reading
Will cover1 topic/subject at a time starting with micro/patho

Hope I can follow this path till success 😉

coming to sdn nbde forum after one year and things are still the same......everyone is running for dental decks, first aid and wanna clear the exam with just this.....lemme tell you something from my past experience doing decks in the begining wont get you anywhere soon.....decks are randomly arranged and should be used as an additional knowledge to the text......you should refer to some text too and do that first if you are out of basic sciences from a long time.......decks should be done after clearing your basics.....what people these days are thinking is that since the exam is just pass n fail we just need the limited material and we'll be done.....out of all the people who share their experiences after passing just share the partial information......some say decks is enough some will say asda is enough to pass......but they will never tell you what they actually studied from the very start till the very end.....how many internet searches they did, how many wikipedia pages they studied, how strong were there basics before studyin.....one thing is for sure that after this pass n fail system the exam has gone a lil tough and is not very easy to clear.....rest you can ask me for help we can discuss things if you want as i am planning to RE-appear soon.......one last thing i wanna mention is that the thing i have learnt from my experience and from the other close people i know who cleared the exam in one go is that dont overprepare 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 months is more than enough coz after that you start forgetting no matter how much you revise you will get confused as the exam comes close and if ur an international dentist who is gonna take a long flight to US just to give the exam than its even more tough to build up the confidence if ur not than good for you.......so prepare once or twice but prepare rock solid with the basics intact......all the best.....PHEWWW......

Thanks Drjob but if you study in details then how can one finish all subjects in 3-4 months I'm planning to study. Decks and first aid ,however I started with Kaplan but lost interest or I must say its in sooooo detail

Kaplan is the worst thing you can do for NBDE1..... doin in detail doesnt mean that you gotta go through each n every word of a book....well even if you have to 3-4 months are enough.....remember the time in BDS when we used to finish 7 final year subjects in just last 2-3 months and some like me did it in jus 1 1/2 month and believe me i was among the last 5 in my class......so what m sayin is be prepared with the basics and refine the basics with decks then you wont need anything else......concentrate more on anatomy and dental anatomy....every second question in the exam would seem to be from there....rest you can go on with as you wish.....if youre gettin good progress then its the best for you.....

40 in a day is good job. i took the exam last year and i passed. i did only from dental decks and asda. but yes i goggled a lot of topics which i was not sure from the decks. with micro i just took my 2nd yr books and did it start to end , and then went to decks...but all in all it was only decks and asda...if ur basics are in order i think this much would be enough.

Completed my microbiology today from first aid done around 28cards from decks 12-13
Still doing decks

Didn't updated in days but I have done studies
First aid reading almost the whole book once except a few topics like neoplasia ,embryology, and some portion of anatomical sciences
Thanks to my study partner 😀
Done arteries and veins from decks respected part from first aid and you tube videos
The videos on you tube are really good and helpful 😎

What is monthyour plan to focus & study before exam i.e.; for last month:scared:
I'm trying to complete all the subjects from decks and first aid by July end or Aug 1st week so then i can start with asda and revision in the weak sections and in the last month will just try to do question as much as i can and revise the decks and in the last week will do crack the nbde hope this would work for me
what are your suggestions
