I got my call around noon today! I'm in province and my last name starts with H, so yeah, alphabetical doesn't sound entirely likely.

I had to call them back, because I wasn't home at the time they called. When I called, Margaret mentioned something about there being two list (maybe one for in province and one out of province?) but nothing about how they were organize.

My first semester GPA was about 3.66, and my grade 12 average was about 96%, for whoever was asking. With an average >92%, you should have no problem at all getting an interview, since my average is around 82%.

Good luck to everyone who hasn't heard back. I'm sure it's just a matter of time.

I got my call today around 11:30. I'm from Nova Scotia, last name S.

I received a call this morning but I wasn't home so they left a message. Did anyone else get a message? They didn't mention anything about an interview though, just to call them back. I don't want to get my hopes up!!

Also, I keep seeing the name Margaret.. is she the only person calling for interviews? In the message, the woman's name was Kate. She was also the one who called me a little bit ago asking for my interim English grade.

Hard to say. I know when I was called about my marks a couple weeks ago, it was Kate that called me. It could be that both of them are doing the calls together, since there's so many people to get in touch with. All I know is that it was Margaret that called me today.

I was in the same situation, but my mom got in touch with me soon enough that I could call them back fairly quickly. I don't think that the message they left said anything about an interview.

Yeah, I'm trying not to get my hopes up. It would be a low blow for them to call me about something not interview related during this time though haha. Congratulations on getting an interview!

Thanks 😀 If there was some other issue, they probably would have mentioned it in the message they left. I know that's what they did for my missing marks. I'm glad I only had to wait about an hour to get in touch with them.

That's true, and I feel like if there was any other issue they probably wouldn't call to tell me since the decision has already been made so it's not like there's something I can do to change that.

im out of province and i know they are only interviewing like 20 OOP and that alot of OPP got interviews already
so scared i didnt get one
im gpa is 3.86 on a 4.0 scale
but the problem is i had a lot of late course withdrawal showing up on my transcript b/c of health reasons
so i dont kno if that cut me
but i do have one full year of 5.0 FCE

Congratulations! Glad to see it was worth the wait!

I don't know for sure how long they'll be making calls for, but it seems that last year, they started on a Wednesday and ended the following Tuesday. They seem to be doing that again this year, so I'd say there's still a few days left (though the weekend right in the middle sucks for people who are still waiting). I'd say if you don't hear anything by Monday or Tuesday, give them a call to find out if they're still making calls and if they're planning to call you.

No, I think there is still time! Last year, someone I know got a call on the 8th, and another person didn't get a call until the 15th or so. They're closed on the weekends so I would say if you don't hear from them by Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest, give them a call. Goodluck!

I got a call around 10:30 today and there were only Saturday 8am and Sunday 8:00 am left.

Does out of province just mean out of the maritimes?

To those getting calls from out of provinces, what are your prereqs and Last year GPA's are like?

😕 Haven't gotten a call yet so just worried!!!

I got a call at 3:00 today!!! My last name starts with S and I live an hour away from Halifax. I had the option of Saturday or Sunday. I chose Saturday. The only times are either 8:00 or 11:00. I chose 11:00 since my mom is going to have to drive me there. I hear it is the same style as med school interviews.

The second question seems really open.
What would you all reply to that?

It is open ...that's the point ...they're assessing your communication skills (on a professional, rather than personal level ) there isn't a particular reply ... you don't want to be generic ...you want to give an original and genuine response to your questions .... you'll do much worse if you try to give them the answer they want to hear rather than the honest one they'll be able to detect that! 🙂

you would introduce yourself, be friendly, see where the actor takes it from there and coordinate with her, expect anything and be prepared
she might be snoby and overdominating
friendly
or even in a grouchy mood
you just have to be a people person and communicate in a professional yet realistic manner to her, that is how the acting ones are

Thanks! That was really helpful. Oh... so a person is acting and you go along... sorry If I sound stupid, but I didn't know that. I've only had one job interview and it was really informal.

Congratulations on the call! I had the same preference, since I'd be driving in from out of town the morning of, but I'm only about a half-hour away by car.

you dont sound stupid. I just wouldnt use the word go along cuz it sounds like you are subordinate. Try just thinking of it as a two way convo

did you guys hear about the new plan for proposed for ontario for generic drugs that is pending ?

I hadn't, but after you mentioned it I did a quick search for some information about it. The article I found mentioned that the Nova Scotia government is interested in seeing how this goes, and that the Ontario government wants to have it fully implemented by the time those of us that are accepted this year will be graduating. Doesn't sound like particularly good news for retail pharmacy. I'm going to try to keep my eye on this.

There also seems to be some new legislation in Nova Scotia to increase the range of responsibilities for pharmacists to include restriction prescription power and the giving of vaccinations. Sounds like this training is going to be offered as continuing education for current pharmacists, and incorporated into the current curriculum at Dalhousie. Any thoughts on this?

I've heard shoppers specifically plans on cutting down pharmacy employees.

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/repo...rt-to-slash-store-hours-staff/article1528421/

Think about it, if shoppers, and other companies like loblaws are making less money out of the drugs they are selling, they will have to cut back to compensate, they will cut back on pharmacist hours, number of employees and their salary.

And starting your own small business probably isn't the best prospective with the fact that companies that offer rebates called professional fees, will no longer be able to do this (that is where a lot of the money comes from)

I personally feel I want to do pharmacy b/c it is the job for me, I don't mind that there might be some cuts in pharmacy salary, BUT if after working my butt off for 4 years I find it is possible but a challenge to find a job, lets just say i won't be too happy
but who knows if they will even pass this, there is a lot of ppl standing up against them at this point, especially big companies

does anyone know if they are still making calls for interviews this week?

no clue, but I would guess yes at least for the beginning of this week

could please please please the OOP applicants post some of their stats??? I am deciding on whether or not to apply to Dal this year and I just wanna know how competitive I would be relative to other OOP's!

Thanks!

doing year 3, I didn't have a full course load every year thou, although i did have one year with 5 FCE............yeah anyone with OOP stats please share, im curious as to why I didn't get a call, if i got a rejection i would just like to know ahead of time, as it won't be easy to book a flight so close to the date and its already march 12 .....

Considering interviews are in 19-20 days, if they dont give us a call within the next 3 days we can assume it's a no go. Realistically we're battling for 9 seats as OOP and most likely they have called anyone with 92-99% gpa. Best of luck everyone!!!😎

I'm OOP, but not sure how much help my stats will be to you. I actually already have a degree (BSc Bio and Psych) and I did my last two years (4th and 5th) part time. My overall GPA was 11.6/12 overall, but my first year GPA (having most of my prereqs) was my lowest GPA year (~10.5/12). seeing as no one really knows how they look at people's marks (esp when so many different types of ppl apply - like me) i say go for it. if it's what you want to do, at least try.

The stats of this year's OOPs will be almost completely irrelevant to you applying next year for two reasons :

1)They are using a different grade system next year .... this year was 1st year pre-reqs plus your last year of university study ...and based on AVERAGES .... next year ...they will be using cumulative GPAs ...so nobody will be able to tell you right now, what a competitive GPA would be .. I'd say OOP with a 3.9 ish and you'd be very safe ..

2) Each year the lowest average accepted varies, quite a bit ... it all depends on the competition ....you may get lucky one year and have almost everyone apply with very low averages/gpas, and therefore could get in with a much lower average/gpa than other years ...

So ...it all depends ... if you're in the 3.7+ cumulative GPA range for next year .... definitely apply you'd stand a good chance!

i called and they said they are in process of calling till the end of the week. soooo maybe for every1 that hasn't gotten a call yet there is still chance

i dont think u need 92/93 to get an interview for OOP
i asked what the average was for last year ppl who got in and they said 83/84

also if u have q's about entrance avgs best to call the school directly instead of ask ppl who's answers won't be overall representative

has anyone gotten a rejection letter from dalhousie?? i keep checking the mail, i actually dont care what the result is anymore i just want to know so i know whether i can go on a trip during those days...the wait is not pleasant

i haven't heard anything yet either. no letter so far. i called today and they said they are still in the process of making calls and that not everyone who has received an interview has been contacted yet. i guess margaret is away until next week so maybe we won't know until then. (?)

i havent heard back from them & i didn't drop an english course that complelty screwwed me over in every way, i was taking 7 courses and could have dropped it, i just kept it ONLY for dalhousie prereqs and if they had let me know last week it wouldnt have been to late to drop it but now it is

they piss me offf !!!
posting results the monday would have been the RIGHT thing to do!!!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRR

that really sucks! but maybe you will still get a call. i have flights booked, but i can cancel them anytime before the day i fly so that shouldn't be an issue...although it would be really nice to know one way or the other. have you applied anywhere else?

yeah uoft, i got an interview there

I got an email this afternoon to confirm my interview, so I assume they'll be sending out rejection letters soon. I think as long as they're still making calls, they're still a little apprehensive to fully reject a potential applicant, just in case a spot opens up for them. Still, they definitely should have done all this sooner, save all of us a lot of stress.

if they are making phone calls to confirm interviews than they are done making phone calls to invite applicants, they just don't want to be too quick to reject incase an applicant doesn't take the interview spot, wow i wasted my time and effort taking english for no reason, wonderful

umm hey im curious that person who said they had a 92% before, did you get an interview ?

oh wait u said email not phone call

Yes, in the email it specifically asks you to reply to confirm whether you will, or will not be attending the interview, so my guess is that, until they hear from everyone with a positive confirmation, that there is still a chance to get contacted for an interview.

thanks for the info. folks!

Less than a week till interviews! I just have a quick question about interview apparel: is it appropriate for women to have purses or other similar bags with them in the interview? If so, is there a certain size/style that would be particularly appropriate or inappropriate? Any advice would be very much appreciated.

That is a really good question! I was wondering about that myself. Since I'm a female, I typically like to carry a lot of "in case" stuff, but I try to keep the purse small.
I went online and searched to see if it was appropriate to carry a purse in an interview. Most of what I found was that it is best to keep the purse small or not carry one at all. Also some websites said to at least try to coordinate the colour of your purse to match your clothes if you decide to bring one.

Do you think we need to bring a resume or anything with us.
I know we need identification (I think I'll just bring my drivers license)

Is there anything else we need?
