I just am not making any sense in this damn thing. I can't figure out how to finish it, I can't figure out what to say, I don't know if it even makes any sense. I am getting frustrated. 😡

I think you ought to quickly get some advice from an essay specialist in person as soon as possible. It may be expensive, but the PS seems to be the thing that is holding back your application, and it would be worth exorcising that demon as soon as possible.

Thanks guys, I am just frustrated at how to proceed. It's almost finished, but I can't seem to find a way to tie it all together without seeming cheesy or manufactured. I am also struggling with whether to put in something about a personal illness -- my experience as a patient certainly informed my decision to be a physician, but I don't want to be discrim. against (it's MDD). When I posted the original message, I was just overly frustrated, but I am going to finish the ****ing thing and send this off today. It's just going to have to be good enough- it can never be perfect, right?

I had a hard time writing my ps also. I had alot to say, but didn't know which points are important to make, and how much space should be devoted to each area of interest. So I bought a book, titled something like: Medical School Sample Application Essays. Suppose to be a compilation of real people's essays. Some of them were really good, and had similarity to my own experiences. they gave me a good place to start my own essay, and also how to organize it. Just search on amazon.com, and I am sure you will find a few to help you out.

Even thoug nothing can be perfect, it is nice to try 😀
I went through at least 5-6 drafts on my ps. my premed advisor also read it over twice.

PS is very important, I was asked about things in my essay at every one of my interviews.

i concluded my ps by being a little vague and saying soemthing that could pertain to thousands of applicants... i dont have regrets tho, cuz i really meant what i said

stinkycheese, I think that you should highlight your illness, esp. if it influenced your reasons for wanting to go into medicine. 🙂 Another idea for an ending would be to state some of your goals in serving as a future physician (e.g., want to provide free care, do research, etc.) if you haven't covered it already. 😳

Just be yourself and don't worry about being like or much different that all the other essays. Write as you are and you should be fine.
