Has anyone gotten anything from DMS lately? Any type of orientation packet?

Thanks

there was a binder mailed a while back (concerning orientation and some other stuff), but nothing since...i don't think

OK......I too recieved the binder with the DVD, housing info, etc. So I guess there will be something coming soon. If anyone has recieved anything beyond that, please post.

Well, I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm feeling a little overloaded with paper.

The binder was helpful, but I don't think it was complete. I've got to deal with at least the following additional items:

- Health plan (immunizations that I may not have yet/physical)
- CPR certification
- On Doctoring (who do you want as your mentor) - (easy little form)

I'm also not mentioning the autobiographical paragraph and transcripts, which I guess goes without saying.

By the way, in one of the packets, it mentioned getting CPR certified. I went on the American Red Cross web site, and there are just oodles of different courses. Any advice as to which one to take?

I did my CPR through the American Red Cross. There is a 888 number you can call and they will tell you where to get certified. Tell the instructor that you are getting it for med school. To get the 888 number (sorry I don't have it or else I'd post it), call information and ask for it OR call you local American Heart Association. Get the one through American Heart Association, because it lasts for 2 years, instead of 1 year. The CPR people know which one you need. Besides, the type of CPR certification you need is also listed in the packet we got (I got CPR and AED certified). With regards to the packet, are you guys talking about the packet you get when you first get accepted? The one with the autobiographical statement, info on Greenwhich Village housing, info on other housing opportunities, the blue form indicating you'll accept, the microscope rental stuff, etc? I never saw anything in there about picking out a mentor. There was some stuff in the back about immunizations you should get, etc. I've only recieved one packet after I was accepted and haven't gotten anything else lately. Just wanting to know.

Sorry..........I did my CPR/AED certification through the American Heart Association, not the American Red Cross.

health forms were a separate mailing....what a pain it is (literally too - that tetanus booster shot sucks big time)

and concerning the on doctoring form...they ask for a profile or whatever?...is it just me or does everyone at DMS wants to know everything about everybody? <img border="0" alt="[Laughy]" title="" src="graemlins/laughy.gif" />

When did you get the health forms and the on doctoring forms?

approximately 2 weeks ago

if you don't receive 'em soon, i suggest you call (they must be completed and mailed in before the end of july)

correction...on doctoring form they want back by july 15th, just checked

Thanks Assassin.....I'll give them a call tomorrow and see what's going on with all my forms.

Okay...I called the admissions office and they transfered me to Dick's House, which handles student health. They said they didn't have me in the computer, as I got in recently (early June). I guess they must be really slow in updating all the different agencies. Assassin, when did you get the "On Doctoring form"? Is that the same thing as the autobiography? I still haven't gotten the "On Doctoring" form. Is anyone else in the same boat as me?

Thanks again

no, it's a whole separate form asking what your preferences are (if any) for a preceptor

if you want to contact the on doctoring office directly their number is: 603 650-6581

Thanks again Assassin.
