I know these threads are getting old. But i am caving to pressure, and opting for some advice.

I was accepted today off the waitlist from Dartmouth, though up until now i planned on PSU.
Any thoughts? I know others opinions shouldnt matter, but i feel like i need some....possibly somewhat informed opinions.
Thanks! 🙄

*edit*Oh...forgot to mention i am out-of state everywhere...my state doesnt have a Allopathic medschool

That's a little harsh and pretentious..

Several factors besides school name go into picking a school...

What do you actually know about these schools?

Yeah, don't go to Penn State. I heard they use their weaker first year students in the anatomy lab. That's why there are conflicting reports of their class size. Sometimes it's 145, other times it's 135.

Darmouth is great. I have a friend going there, 3rd year med student, and she loves it. She did not like living in the Pennsylvania area. So, her choice was based on, reputation and location. Besides, Dartmouth is beautiful.

I heard back from Dartmouth via phone, telling me they were sending me an acceptance letter.

However, dont be too worried since i am from Maine, i applied through the Access program..(they hold 5 seats for this program...for mainers since we have only 1 osteo school)

Dartmouth is great...it had been my first choice, but after not getting in, i didnt think i would, so i decided on PSU. I got pretty interested in PSU too, which is why it is hard. I had found a roommate and started making plans to move down. And i did like their "progressive" program with the Humanities and all.
So Dartmouth, sent me for a spin....also i guess i dont know much about Dartmouth except its a nice area, and its close to home.
So far i am leaning toward Dartmouth, its hard to give up an Ivy, especially a cheaper than a oos at a stateschool ivy.
hmm... :scared:

Has Dartmouth already had their second look there? I think you still have time to do your own "second look" perhaps with a student who already goes there.

It is hard to give up an Ivy. Sadly, sometimes its about reputation. You have to weigh the cost. Overall, rate your happiness at each of the schools. They both have their own perks.

You're in a favorable boat. Don't fret! 😉

They did have it last week....convienantly before i was accepted.
I plan on taking a trip over this weekend, after my graduation....but i dont know any current students...any ideas?

Do they maintain a class list on the website? I bet some Dartmouth students are on SDN under the MD portion. Do a search and maybe you can find some MS1-MS4s on here. If I can get a hold of my MS3 friend, maybe she can show you around if she's not doing her rotations at that time.

Actually, only somebody who has not applied yet would jump at Dartmouth right away. I chose Penn State over Dartmouth for a number of reasons.

However, if Dartmouth is cheaper for you than Penn State, then I would go with Dartmouth.
